Our thoughts and prayer go out to Sharron and family at the sudden passing of a good husband and father. We have known Doug for many years and enjoyed his quiet sense of humor and an all-around pleasant fellow at many extended family gathering over the years we know he will now rest in peace with the Lord

I am heart broken about this news... I was good friends with Brian in our early years. I remember having many sleep overs at his house. We would be playing hockey out on the back road, pretending we were in a band in the garage or playing catch with a football in the front yard. Mr. McHale was always out there playing with us and connecting with us.
The Tragically Hip are one of my favorite bands thanks to Mr.McHale. I remember standing in the McHales kitchen and Mr.Mchale was playing the newly released the Up to Hear album either on tape or it was playing on the radio ut was excited to hear them. I'm pretty sure he kicked started not only my love for The Hip but for music in general. Mr.McHale was such a kind hearted, gentle spirt and probably my favorite Dad out of all my childhood Friends. My heart truly goes out to the McHale family during this time. Much love to all of you!

Sharron and family, I am so sorry to hear that Doug has passed away. There are many fond memories from childhood that we all will treasure. Doug was a kind and gentle man with a good sense of humour. Although he was quiet, his presence in a room was felt. The pride and joy he expressed for you and his family spoke volumes about the love you all shared. May this love carry you through this difficult time. Know you are not alone.

I will miss Doug, father-in-law to my daughter Anna. Doug, was quiet, however, we had many conversations that always ended in a few laughs or a smile. He was such a kind man. I remember well when Anna and Shawn were buying their first house and Doug and I spoke about how proud we were of both Anna and Shawn. Doug said ‘this is a great house to make a home”, and they have done just that. Another proud moment I will remember fondly of Doug was our dance together at Anna and Shawn’s wedding. Of course it was I who stepped on his feet; another special moment and another chance to laugh. I see a bit of Doug in Shawn, Tim and Brian, a reminder that Doug was a great man, with great boys, a wonderful father, and the love of his best friend Sharron. I will miss you, Doug.
