These are some of the many things Stephen loved to do. He loved to dance & would stay on the dance floor all night if he found someone that liked to dance as much as he did. He was the best dancer of the 6 brothers, very smooth; I enjoy dancing with him. He listened to the old country music songs, specially the two hours on Sunday morning. At the Family Christmas parties, a trivia game was played and Stephen had the best memory regarding family stories, dates and events. Love to play cards, euchre and crazy eights. Ian (a Grand Nephew) thought an afternoon of playing crazy eights would be easy with Grandpa and Uncle Stephen, because Stephen was in his early seventies. Ian learned that day, that was not the case. After frequent losses, Ian had a new kind of respect for Stephen's skill. Stephen enjoyed coming to the farm. At first it would be over a weekend, but later it would be for a day in the fall. Clem would pick him up, when he got to the farm, he would try to convince me to make his coffee, but soon learned he was quite capable of making it himself. Lunch was a toasted tomato sandwich with bacon and cheese, no lettuce. His saying was, "I do not eat anything green". Put anything green on his plate it always remained on the plate. Out for a walk through the cattle, discussed the cattle prices, what older cows would be shipped & which replacement heifer should stay. Back for more coffee & then sat in a lawn chair enjoying the fall colors with the company of 2 dogs, one with a ball to play with, the other waiting to be petted. Carp Fair was also a highlight for him each year. We enjoyed his short visits, will miss that quiet time with him. "Thank you Helen, for being with Stephen while he started his heavenly journey & I am sure it was a great comfort to him you being there."
With Love and Respect!
Clem, Pat, Kevin, Sylvie, Krista, Mike and Kelly.
