Barry was part of our family. Friends forever with my brother Andrew. He shared a few cold beverages with
my brother Malcolm, worked at our family Dairy and entertained Mom, Dad and myself with lots
of stories. Mostly I think of the "no wet clause" he had for boating at our cottage. Barry sat in the
boat watching the skiing and tubing- smiling and laughing and remaining dry.
Our condolences to the Egan family

As a cousin growing up in a military family, I only saw Barry once in awhile. Sometimes it would be for his hockey games, others on visiting the family home. I always remember him as a happy person, and I hope that his life brought joy to all that were close to him. Condolences to all that will miss his smile….

At some point in the early 1970’s when Canada and the USSR were playing, we gave each other nicknames. Barry became Eganov and I became Gordeshev, we had lots of fun back then playing street hockey on Edward Street or on our backyard rink using those names and we always greeted each other for the next 48 or so years the same way, Hey Eganov…!!, Gordesheeeevvvv…he would always say it the same way with that look in his eye and a smile, the inside joke never got old or stale, it was our thing, we always had a good laugh, and then we would chat and catch up on stuff…, Rest in Peace Barry. My condolences to Laura, Arthur and Joey and the Egan Family. Gord Hill

As a billet family for many years with the Pembroke Lumber Kings many players have come through our home. Barry was one of those guys. He was one of the nicest guys anyone would want to call a friend. Barry's legacy still lives on in our family to this day with #12 proudly worn by our sons Rodney and Brad and grandson Jarrett up through their Minor Hockey years. He was just one of those guys that left a lasting impression on our family. Our deepest condolences to Laura and all the family. Rest in Peace Barry.

Dear Mrs. Egan , Joe and Arthur
Wow , what a sad day this is. I am so sorry for the loss of your son , your brother. Barry grew up playing hockey with my brother Bruce, the younger brother of my very good friend Joe, and as the years went on , our paths crossed many times on and off the sports fields and ice pads. Barry was a fierce competitor , always wore his heart on his sleeve. Did he have his faults , well of course we all do , but yes as others have stated Barry had your back , he would give you the shirt off his back . He was very proud of his home town. He fought til the end , but the suffering is over .
Barry rest in peace my friend , thoughts and prayers to the entire Egan family and the hockey family that knew him . RIP Barry .

Around 49 or 50 years ago I saw this tough looking kid my age walking down the middle of Edward St. He was drinking (and partially wearing lol) an Orange Crush with shirt wide open and chest puffed out. He walked up to me (I shitting bricks) reached out his hand and said “My names Barry Egan, what’s yours?”
The rest is an odyssey of good times being in and out of each other’s lives. Barry And I always made it clearly known to each other that we were dear friends and he always gave me far more praise and respect than I deserved. With the heaviest of hearts I offer my last respects and praise to a son and brother who truly does deserve it.

To Mrs. Egan, Joey and Art.
I am so sorry for the loss of your son and brother Barry. You are in my thoughts and prayers. Barry was such a great person to have a hockey conversation with. He was a fellow Lumber King and grew up playing hockey with my brother Darin. Whenever I would run into Barry on my visits home, we would immediately start into the stories of our hockey experiences. The hockey world is a small one, and we would know a lot of the same players/coaches. Not only was Barry a terrific hockey player, he was an outstanding person and would give you the shirt off his back. His laugh was infectious and he could light up the darkest room. I called him and spoke to him a few months ago, and his attitude never changed ... he was in control.
Rest in peace my friend. I will miss seeing you on my visits to the Prior.

To all the Egan family - I am so sorry for your loss. When Barry started at Boeing some 32 odd years ago I was given the task of showing how things were done there. We developed a friendship that as lasted to this day.I could have sat with him for hours and listened to his hockey stories. My fondness memories of Barry was the many Friday nights when we played a game of pick up hockey in Pakenham with a beverage afterwards and more stories. Laura I was amazed at how a graceful skater he was and what he could do with the puck at such a high rate of speed. I would like to thank you for the phone call yesterday after Barry's passing it meant so much to me. Great man I will miss him. May God bless him.
