My deepest condolences to all of Mary's Family.
Mary and I met at the Civic in 1978. We worked side by side for over 18 + years.
She became a true and loyal friend.
We had a wonderful close friendship, We shared many stories, outings, and had tons of laughs and cries over the years. (mainly laughs)
In our office anytime the song "Islands in the Stream"came on the radio, I had to be quiet...(sometimes we would even take the phone off the hook ha ha. It was her favourite song and she would dance and sing along (she loved to dance)
To this day anytime I hear that song, I immediately think of Mary.
She met and knew all my family. When our youngest daughter that lived near Mary had her first child, Mary walked over with a beautifully wrapped gift (a set of Bunnykins dishes.) She was a very thoughtful and kind person.
Mary would never reveal her age to me. (now I know LOL) She seemed to never age, always looked the same. She ate healthy, walked everywhere, and was rarely ever sick.
After I retired, Often my sister Joan and I would meet up with Mary on Merivale Rd for chats.
I bet Kenny Rogers is singing Islands in the Stream, and Mary is still dancing.
R.I.P. Mary

I will remember Mary as a kind and loving person. We were both Sagittarian and she would always refer to us as”saggis”. She was also was a shy person and it was no wonder that we didn’t know that she was struggling with her illness. If I could I would have phoned her more often. It is so sad that the COVID pandemic made it so difficult to visit. When we travelled to Florida with a few colleagues I remember her loving country music and a good buy when shopping. We both had parents from Ukraine and could enjoy the same type of food. I will miss Mary since once in awhile she would stop by on her way to meals on wheels. If I could and my arms were long enough I would have loved to have given a hug for the last time. She was loved. As Toni Morrison wrote “something that is loved is never lost”. My condolences to you Helen and extended family. Godspeed Mary.

Sorry to hear of Mary's passing. I did not really know her as well as I knew her parents and sister Irene. I remember my Dad building the house on Charlotte and we used to take the shortcut by there on the abandoned rail spur. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all during this time of loss, the Borshevskys
