I am heartbroken to hear this sad news. Gutted really. I first met Mark in Ottawa through Ron Wilson. I was just out of school and at the very beginning of my career at CBC. It was long before Mark came to work at CBC himself. We had an instant bond. He was funny, irreverent, smart, creative, kind and so very supportive. You were lifted by his support of you. I will fondly remember our dinners and great conversations, usually with a glass of wine in hand. My recipe box is filled with go to recipes from Mark Barber. I learned from him in so many ways. I was thrilled when Mark came to work at CBC. He belonged in a place of creativity. So capable. I was sorry when he left Toronto and ultimately left CBC. I am sending my deepest condolences to his family and all those who loved him. I know he loved and was loved deeply. I am sorry for your loss.
