I remember Mark from my days at the CBC. He was very warm and sweet and caring. Also he was the first person to every mention Starbucks to me; I sniffed that it was American and wouldn't do well.
To his family and close friends: I am very sorry about his loss.

Mark and I enjoyed many (and I mean MANY) cups of coffee during our time together at the CBC. He was one of my favourite people, and I can't imagine a world without his smile and his laugh.

Mark and I were good friends and colleagues during his Toronto years. So many wonderful adventures and such fabulous meals that you could forgive the absolute chaos he left behind in the kitchen - he really needed his own sous chef. I'll always remember the laughter, the endless cups of coffee and the way he could make ordinary outings so much fun. I'll miss you Mark.

Stephen (Bubba), Lynn and family, So sorry to hear of Mark's passing. Our families grew up on 3rd avenue together. I have fond memories of Mark and his boisterous laugh, great sense of humor and his very kind demeanour. He always had a kind word for everyone. He and Danny Champagne were really great friends and always hung out together with my younger brother (Doug). Condolences to all at this very difficult time

I am heartbroken to hear this sad news. Gutted really. I first met Mark in Ottawa through Ron Wilson. I was just out of school and at the very beginning of my career at CBC. It was long before Mark came to work at CBC himself. We had an instant bond. He was funny, irreverent, smart, creative, kind and so very supportive. You were lifted by his support of you. I will fondly remember our dinners and great conversations, usually with a glass of wine in hand. My recipe box is filled with go to recipes from Mark Barber. I learned from him in so many ways. I was thrilled when Mark came to work at CBC. He belonged in a place of creativity. So capable. I was sorry when he left Toronto and ultimately left CBC. I am sending my deepest condolences to his family and all those who loved him. I know he loved and was loved deeply. I am sorry for your loss.

Sending you all, the family and close friends of Mark, my prayers and warm thoughts. Mark and I worked together at the CBC over the course of more than 12 years, and I remember him with great fondness. By times we were each others work-confidants, and I will always hold him in my heart with great esteem and love. His sense of humour and caring for others always shone through whatever work issues would come up. He will be missed by me and by many others who knew and worked with him over the years.

I also worked with Mark at CBC. He was my Communications Officer in Ottawa and I brought him to Toronto. He was my right hand man until I left. His sense of humour and his ability to defuse tense situations was legendary. Nobody could get mad at Mark at least not for long. We recently communicated as he was applying for a job in Hamilton. I am so saddened by his sudden death. Profound condolences to his family. He will remain forever in our memories and our hearts. RIP my dear friend.

Mark was a dear colleague at CBC and would regularly light up a stressful or dreary day with his delightfully irreverent wit, just when I needed it most. I am grateful for his generous friendship and memorable laugh, and hope his whole extended family have the blessing of years of good memories to sustain them. Condolences to you, and Mark - rest well, friend.

I am so sorry to hear of Mark’s passing. I worked with Mark at the CBC for many years and he was always so warm, funny and caring. I remember when he decided to move back to Nova Scotia and he seemed so happy here. My prayers and thoughts are with Mark’s family, he left us way too soon.

I'll miss Mark's sense of humour from which his infectious laugh stemmed. I'm so appreciative that I got to spend some quality time with him during our visits (especially one delightfully silly New Year's Eve in Calgary). My love and prayers to Lynn and family.
Rest in peace, sweet man.

My sincerest condolences to Steve and all of Marks family. We lived on 4th Ave. and the Barbers lived on 3 rd Ave. Some of my younger brothers hung around with the Barbers, Champagnes, and Robinson’s. That was a long time ago. The good old days. RIP Mark.
