We've been priviledged to know Sherman & Barb since high school. Although we haven't been in their immediate social circle, we've always enjoyed our times with them, especially our trip south together. We remember Sherman as a quiet soul with a quick and endearing smile and kind heart. He always made us feel that he enjoyed our company as much as we enjoyed his. Very sorry that he is gone and grateful for the memories we shared.

To Barb and your family you are in our hearts and mind. Words may not suffice to express the heartfelt sorrow that we feel for the loss of your loved one. Our deepest condolences on the loss of "Shermie" a husband, son, brother, father and friend to all.
We were good friends and customers of Shermie's at Wine Villa, he will be truly missed as we had some good conversation and he always had a welcoming smile with a glass of wine at the ready to toast to any occasion.
Just remember, when we lose a loved one here on earth, we gain an angel in heaven that watches over us.

Barbara & family;
I was very saddened to hear of Sherman's passing. I've been making wine with him for decades. When I'd show up to bottle, he would always be ready with the cart and watching the door for my arrival. We had some of the best chats while bottling, usually about music and fishing. I'll miss those in the future, but will always remember the history we shared. My sincere and heartfelt condolences to all of you.
Respectfully, Rick & Elly Leben, Kinburn.

My first impressions of Sherman was that he has a gruff, stoic, stubborn Dutchman. He was that, but as I came to know him better over the years of camping at Pinewood Park, I saw a friendly, humorous loving side to him. Over many bicycle rides in the Whitewater region he would recount many events of his life, rounding up stray cattle with Keith Black, his connections with "Mooner" in various stages of his life, stories of life on the homestead on Mineview Road with his siblings Bonnie, Pete and Wes, his snow clearing adventures with Pete Debruyne and Kevin Armitage, his neighbour crew from Paddock Way in Kanata, his occupational adventures with the pipeline, closet door installations, work on the Peace Tower, the Post Office and Wine Villa, his many fishing adventures, all of which were important to him and which he remembered fondly. A pleasant surprise for Sherman was learning that his brother Pete had learned to play the guitar and sing country songs, something he enjoyed very much. Preston's appearance when Tyler met up with Jillian showed another side of Sherman again, amplified again when Remington was born, his love for his son Tyler and his extended family. Our visits to auctions initially were looking for tools for Tyler and then changed to looking for toys for Preston and Remi. A great experience for him this past summer was fishing on our lake with Barb, Preston and Remi with the assistance of great friend John Vajda, maybe his last fishing adventure.
And of course, through all this, Barb was at his side providing love and support. In terms of family, he was a fortunate man.
I have to thank Sherman for welcoming me into his life and allowing me to share in so many warm memories of him.
