Billy was like a brother to me for many years. The life experiences Billy and I shared together will be treasured. He always tried his best to make us laugh, smile, and feel appreciated. The illnesses he battled sometimes presented challenges for those around him. I know that deep inside he had a soul that really wanted to be loved, and make others feel happy. He was a man who always had a story to tell, and knew everyone around him.

As Billy's teacher (1978-79), I'm remembering him as I look at his Grade 2 class picture and a Christmas Concert picture of "Parade of the Stars" drill /dance. Very sad to hear the passing of Bill. My deepest condolences to Sylvia, Jennifer and all of Bill's family.
Bill was a fellow 12Liner and my first best friend. I remember playing hockey in the laneway. He was either Billy Smith or Andy Moog, and I was Gretzky. Then came the 3wheeler, the swimming pool, electric guitar and Twisted Sister concerts. Sylvia, I'll always remember how you and your family always made me feel welcome in your home. I will never forget that.
Bill was a great friend who was generous and had a great laugh. I always wanted to reach out to Bill and catch up on old times on the 12th Line. Unfortunately, life gets so busy sometimes, you forget the important things in life. Very deep regret.

I am fortunate enough that the last time I saw Billy he was doing well, and it reminded me of the friend I had made over 35 years ago; a quiet, confident, good person.
