Don made a difference. He was kind and clever. He was witty and charming. He was generous and genuine. I knew Mr. Dodds mostly through ADHS where he donated countless hours of his time to help engage students not just with academics but with volleyball to name what little I knew. I was later able to reconnect via maple syrup. I made a point of getting out to the farm and store each season for advice, products, recollections and laughs. I join a long list of people that will miss Donnie Dodds. Marion and family, I am sorry for your loss. I will remember with fondness. Steve Poaps.

So so sorry for your loss. Donnie was one of the best teachers ADHS ever had the honour of having on their staff and any student who had Mr.Dodds were very fortunate indeed. Trust me from a first hand experience “the man had the patience of a saint” because many of us relied on his patience each and every class we attended with him. Anyhow a great person, a great teacher who found the best in a lot of us not so tamed individuals.

Our deepest sympathies to Marion, Bryan, Steven and families. We sincerely appreciate Don's assistance and encouragement over the years. He was a leader in the Ontario maple scene and helped bring Lanark County to the forefront of the industry. He assisted and enabled everyone with his deep knowledge of technology and practices and always took the time to ensure that things were done right. Don was a superb sugar maker, held a strong stewardship ethic and cared for the maple forest that has been in his family for generations. We will all miss Don and hold great respect for his legacy as a father, teacher, and leader.

Marion and Stephen, our deepest condolences to you and family.
We feel blessed to have met you and are so grateful to Donnie for patiently mentoring us maple newbies. We will dearly miss Donnie for his gentle ways and good humour.

Passing of Don Dodds, (Donnie).
My deepest condolences to Marion and her entire family following Don's passing.
I know how much Don was appreciated by all who were lucky enough to benefit from his valuable advice.
Through his passion, he has been instrumental in the growth of Maple products production throughout Ontario and beyond.
I have a pleasant memory of the friendly Open House on the Dodds Family Maple farmland, to feel how all those who showed up were received as family.
How many great comments I heard about him, the customers he served were often more like friends.
Donnie will be missed

To Marion, Stephen, Bryan and Lori and family. We share with you a deep sense of loss.
Donald represents all that is best in a human being. The generosity expressed through his actions says it all. This disposition endeared so many people to him. Irene and I felt so comfortable having the Dodds family as neighbours where we could always depend on a helping hand. Donald and I shared a common interest in hunting that went on for twenty plus years.
We are so thankful to have had the opportunity to share in some small part of Donald's life journey.. We will miss our wonderful neighbour.
Bryan and Irene Raycroft

I will always remember Don as he helped me a lot learning about the maple world when I started my career. We worked hard and had fun together as he also had a very good sense of humor.
Don was a great dealer for Lapierre Equipment and Lapierre Waterloo Small for many years.
He will certainly be remembered as somebody always willing to do the extra mile to give an outstanding customer service.

Donnie was George and my Best Man in 1971, we even got him to square dance, much to Marion’s amazement!
We always had so much fun at Maple Summer Tours, always some teasing and birthday gags!
The great scavenger hunt for a Dairy Queen only to find one that was closed!
George and Donnie sharing hunting stories, discussing when to tap, comparing sap flow, syrup grades, always the weather discussion, when to pull the taps and everything else maple.
Always a teacher in the school, the sugarbush and camp!
A big thanks when he became a mentor to Scott after George’s death. Donnie had been a big part of our family and business for many decades!
Here’s hoping he and George are catching up after all these years!
Sincere sympathy in the loss of Donnie,a gentle and kind man.
