Trina, Noah, Troy's family and friends,
My sincerer condolences on your loss. Today is a hard day but the send off you gave Troy was beautiful. My wife, Lisa, and I were deeply thankful we were able to attend the online service and be a part of the day.
I had the pleasure of being one of Troy's friends and room mate for a number of years during his venture out to the west coast. Troy was always fun to be around and we had some really good times.
Troy worked as a sales associate for the Brick Furniture Store with our friend Kerry. Every day for work Troy was always dressed to the nines with his hair perfectly styled. I believe he was the first guy I knew who owned a hair drier. Troy had the salesman hustle, without a doubt. He never came off as sleazy, just very invested in helping people find what they needed while making commission.
Troy was a hard worker and was often looking for an angle to make a little extra money. I remember him doing wedding videos on the side; called his business "Memory Lane Videos" I think. He had this huge VHS video camera, circa 1990 vintage, to record the event then he would come home and some how use a Commodore 64 computer to edit the video, add music and some cheesy graphics. I don't know how much money he made and his per hour wage probably wasn't much after all the time he invested in each wedding but I think he really enjoyed trying to capture special moments for happy couples.
Troy and I shared a common interest of the outdoors. We would tell each other similar stories of our home towns, growing up doing outdoor activities with our families and buddies. Just before returning to live in Ontario, Troy and I did a 115 km canoe circuit in north central British Columbia, the Bowron Lakes. We had a great trip and met some awesome people along the way.
One night while sleeping in our tent we were awoke by the noise of an animal in our camp. Troy was convinced it was a bear and I didn't really have a good argument against this. When I started to open the door of the tent to investigate Troy asked "Where the hell are you going?" as if the tent was going to protect us. Turns out a porcupine was chewing on one of the canoes in the camp. I went back to the tent, got Troy, and we quietly spent the next 15 minutes trying to shoo the critter out of the area without getting struck by quills.
Lisa and I visited with Troy one fall at his trailer which was on a lake near Renfrew. Over a couple days we went fishing, BBQed our catch and enjoyed evenings around the camp fire. Troy was a great host and we really enjoyed ourselves.
The last time I saw Troy was in the spring of 2009. Troy and Trina put me up at their home in Arnprior for a couple days. Troy was proud to have me meet his growing family. We toured Ottawa and went boating. Troy is the only guy I know who enjoys boating through tunnels where your prized boat just fits.
Lisa and I are thankful to have been a small part of Troy's life. His generosity, kindness, good humor, energy, friendship and smile will be missed.
Rest in peace my friend.

My memories of Troy go way back to the 80's when we lived in Cotieville. It was long ago but even then he was so charismatic, funny and lit up a room always. We were heartbroken to hear of Troy’s passing and we send our deepest condolences to you both, as well as to all of Troy’s family and friends. Troy always had a friendly smile and a happy wave for us. Many times he stood by the side of the road and cheered on the kids as they attempted to fly kites or learn to ride their bikes, and he cracked us up when ever he stopped by for a chat. He added a warmth to the neighbourhood that will be so deeply missed.

Please accept my deepest sympathies and permit me to share my profound sorrow for this great loss. Troy is one of the most positive and empowering souls I've ever known; he brightened the lives of everyone he encountered. May he enlighten your lives always and be with you forever in spirit and through his presence as your guardian angel from above.

Trina, Noah and family. So extremely saddened for your tragic loss. Carter Cres will never be the same, he leaves a huge void. As in his life, so in his passing, he continues to bring the neighborhood together. A truly wonderful man, salt of the earth. He will be sorely missed. God's promise is to comfort those who mourn.

Troy was like the big brother I didn't have in the 1980s. He was always very good to me as a child and my sisters and I very much looked up to him and he always had the great respect of my parents and family. Tabitha and I, growing up, spoke about him all the time. My condolences go out to his extended family and friends. Sincerely, James Bennett and family.

I met Troy at work, and we became fairly good friends.
He always talked about his beautiful family and how much he loved them. Then I was lucky enough to meet them, and they are so beautiful, kind and loving.
Troy loved you all so much.
Troy always made me laugh my head off, with his silly antics at work.
He wasxso funny, thoughtful and kind.
My heart is broken into a million pieces as I write this.
I will never forget Troy and his kindness to me and his wonderful friendship he gave to me.
And he loved his family so much.
I will miss you forever buddy, I will remember all the good times.

Troy had been my landlord and friend for over 10 years. He did so much for me; all I had to do was ask, and he was here. Everything that Troy did was done in such a professional way, and I could tell that he loved the job he was doing - no matter what it was. Troy took much joy in making sure that I was happy as I'm sure he wanted to make everyone feel that way in all of his dealings. I will miss you Buddy, and neither will I ever forget.
Love ya.
