Obituary of Harold Hughes

With deep sorrow, the family announces that Harold passed away at The Grove Nursing Home in Arnprior on Saturday morning, March 20, 2021. Predeceased by his beloved wife Margaret Hughes. Harold was 92. Dearly loved father of Vicky Hughes of Brampton and Deanna Karimullah (Mirza) of Arnprior. Dear brother-in-law of Ted Hoy (Sandra) of Oro-Medonte. Cherished and proud “Papa” of grandchildren Melinda Hughes, Andrew Hughes (Nicole) and Aliya Karimullah and also to great-grandchildren Delaney and Ellie Hughes. Survived by his brother Robert (Bob) Hughes. Predeceased by his brothers Thomas (Tom) Hughes and Lawrence (Roy) Hughes. Harold, born and raised in Toronto, made a home for his family in Brampton while commuting to Toronto where he worked as a teacher, and later as a technologist, with the York Board of Education. After retirement he and Margaret moved to Arnprior in 2007 where he continued with his two passions for gardening and singing. He will be greatly missed. Harold’s final care were entrusted to the Pilon Family Funeral Home and Chapel Ltd., 50 John Street North, Arnprior. A private family visitation and service was held on Thursday morning, March 25th. Extended family and friends were invited to join us on your electronic device as we webcast Harold’s Funeral Service live on Thursday morning, March 25th at 11 o’clock. Interment will take place in Sanctuary Park Cemetery, Toronto on Friday, March 26th, 2021. In memory, please consider a donation to the Alzheimer Society of Canada.
