Beth and Family,
People come in and out of our lives but there are some that stand clear in our memory. Charlie Gillan was one of those people. We really enjoyed watching the camaraderie between Hugh and Charlie, Beth and Isobel back in the 80's. Mink ranching has always been a smaller industry in Canada and the owners relied on each other for supply chains, expertise and guidance . And let's not forget FUN! Charlie filled a room with his stature and personality and we could clearly see that he adored Beth. It is good to remember those times.
We send our sympathies to you all,
The Freemans

Beth, Jenn, Jackie, Jane, Jeff, and families, we are so sorry to hear about Charlie’s passing. I have fond memories of your dad at the mink ranch, showing me how to feed the mink; and I also have fun memories from the tennis court. I knew your dad was very smart and the former Reeve, but I had no idea how very accomplished he was. You’re in our thoughts. Love Susie and family.

Our condolences on the passing of Charlie. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all.
Charlie was always a gentleman, a great community man, and a wealth of knowledge to visit with. We also remember him as a man of great strategy on the curling ice. I bought with pride a new 1980 Yamaha snowmobile from Charlie in the fall of 1979. I remember the year well because we had no snow that winter.

To Beth, Jennifer, Jackie, Jane and Jeff - and all of your extended families of spouses, children, nieces, nephews, grand and great-grand children, my condolences on the passing of your husband and father, uncle, grand and great-grandfather. Charlie lived the most varied and interesting life - from mink rancher, to snowmobile dealer, to politician - and much, much more. My younger brother and I worked for Charlie by time, and my Dad worked with him for many years at the Pakenham Township. I was best of friends with Jackie my whole life, and had many a good time golfing, singing, dancing, swimming, and just hanging out with the extended Gillan clan. My sympathies and best wishes - Henry Brodmann.

These pictures were taken on the occasion of Charlie's 80th birthday in August 2006. I always marveled at how fit Charlie was. I wasn't the least surprised to see him golfing at Pakenham Highlands in the summer of 2016. By the time Charlie made it to the age of 90 I think I reached the stage where I could out-drive him, but his ball was always easier to find - usually somewhere near the middle of the fairway.

Beth, Jennifer, Jackie, Jane, Jeff and Family. On behalf of the MacFarlane family, I would like to extend my sincere condolences to you on the passing of Charlie. On a personal note, I will always hold Charlie in high esteem for his role in the restoration of the 5 Span Bridge - a village landmark which holds a special place for me in my memories of growing up in Pakenham. The thoughts and prayers of our family are with yours at this time.
