Obituary of David Hetherington

August 13th, 1944 - April 22, 2021 It is with a heavy heart that we announce the sudden passing of our Dad David Meredith Hetherington. He is reunited with our late Mum Agnes Una Kelly (March 9, 2020). Loving father of Susan Ovington (Sean), Elaine Cook (Ian), Carman Hetherington (Cathy) and Christopher Hetherington (Laura). Proud Granda to Sean, Ryan, Kieran, Sarah, Bryce, Kenna, Vienna, Gavin and Mila. Dad was a great storyteller and loved reminiscing about his days growing up on the farm, being out on the road as a long haul trucker and meeting and falling in Love with Mum in Toronto in the 60s. Their love story lasted 52 years until her passing. As his family grew, Dad devoted himself to the trades, being a skilled craftsman with an eye for detail and design. Dad worked tirelessly to support his family and was happiest when he was helping others. He had a real love for restoring old things, whether it be a car, tractor or vintage gas pump. Over the last 20 years Dad lived and travelled back and forth to Belfast, Northern Ireland. He loved his life in Ireland and always spoke so proudly of Mum’s family. He cherished his relationship with his brother Dana. In loving memory of an avid dog lover, we ask that a donation be made to the Ottawa Humane Society in lieu of flowers.
