Obituary of Patrick Currie

With sadness, the family announces that Pat passed away peacefully at the Renfrew Victoria Hospital on Monday morning, July 5, 2021. Vidus Patrick Currie of Renfrew was in his 81st year. Beloved husband of Sylvia (nee Clark). Cherished dad of Greg (Cathy) of Renfrew, Gary of Pembroke, Gord (Debbie) of White Lake and Glen (Kelly) of Richmond. Much loved grandpa of Sylvia, Sarah, Tony, Joe, Samantha, Danielle, Julia, David, Emerson and Paige, and great-grandpa of Stevie. Predeceased by a brother Art (Margo) of Burlington. Son of the late Phillip and Edna (nee Woodlock) Currie. Pat was born in Sheet Harbour, Nova Scotia. At an early age Pat left school to work in a local lumber camp, where he enjoyed running and caring for a team of horses. He joined the Canadian Armed Forces and proudly served in the Airborne and Artillery Regiments for 23 years. Upon retirement from the forces, Pat went on to receive his secondary school diploma and studied to become a machinist. He later became a teacher at Algonquin College in Renfrew. Prior to his final retirement, he had returned to work as a machinist in industry. He loved time with family, woodworking, fishing and hunting. Pat’s care and arrangements have been entrusted to the Pilon Family Funeral Home and Chapel Ltd., 50 John Street North, Arnprior. A private family graveside service will be held at St. Francis Xavier Cemetery in Renfrew. A recorded webcast of the service will be made available to view on Wednesday afternoon, July 14th.
