Doris Heurter

Obituary of Doris Heurter

1926-2022

Doris was a lovely, witty and generous human being adored by her family and many friends where she lived in Renfrew, Ontario. An active member of her community, she loved playing euchre and bowling at the Opeongo Bowldrome into her 90s. She was also a lifelong, devoted Anglican. Fiercely determined, and uncannily healthy, Doris lived independently till she was 95. Wife of William Heurter (deceased), she was a strong, loving mother to her children, Susan, Brian, Ken and Richard and truly blossomed as a grandmother. Known affectionately as “Granny”, she gifted her care and attention onto her grandkids Adam, Shannon, Meryl, Shane, Brandon and Melanie, and taught them how to love themselves for who they are. Pre-deceased by her sisters Grace Peever, Marjorie Smith, Laura Pickering, and brother Gordon Webb, she is survived by her youngest sister Jean Burnett. She grew up in the depression on a farm in Bristol, Quebec before moving to Ottawa with her husband Bill where they lived and raised their children. Her final days were spent at Arnprior’s The Grove Nursing Home where she was cared for by their incredible staff, and where she died in the loving arms of her grandson Adam and daughter Susan on Wednesday afternoon, March 16, 2022. She will be missed. Donations can be made to The Grove Nursing Home or www.communityministries.ca supporting the homeless and at-risk in downtown Ottawa. Doris' family is holding a private service with a celebration of life to be announced soon.
