Obituary of Gaston Beaudry

With heavy hearts the family announces the death of Gaston Beaudry on March 27, 2022 at the Grove Nursing Home in Arnprior. Born October 12, 1937 to Dorila and Berthe (née Rheaume) Beaudry, Gaston left school at the age of 16 to help on the family farm in Dowling. He is survived by his brother Ron (Gail) from Timmins and predeceased by brothers Marcel, Roland and Omer. Gaston met the love of his life Annette (née Poulin) at his brother’s wedding. They married in August of 1959 and called Azilda home. Now married for over 62 years, Annette was at his side during his final days. Beloved father of Claude Beaudry (Maureen) and Rhéal Beaudry (Leah). Gaston will be greatly missed by his grandchildren Sylvain, Vanessa, Marc and Josée. His witty humour often resulted in their teasing and playing practical jokes on him which he gracefully tolerated and loved the attention they bestowed on him. Gaston was also a great-grandfather of Manuel and Jules. A miner for Inco-Vale for 35 years, Gaston provided the very best he could for his family. His hobbies included Harness Horse Racing where he was a trainer and owner for over 25 years at the Sudbury Downs. A Montreal Canadiens fan always, Gaston enjoyed watching the game and cheering on his team. Go Habs Go! (There, we finally said it). Neighbours will remember him sitting on his porch with a friendly wave and welcomed conversation from those passing by. Determined and courageous until the end, Gaston is survived by loving in-laws, nieces, nephews and a host of long-time friends. The family would like to send a special thank you to Karen from Sudbury Comfort Keepers and the caring staff at the Health Science North, Queensway Carleton Hospital and the Grove Nursing Home. Gaston’s care and arrangements have been entrusted to the Pilon Family Funeral Home and Chapel Ltd., 50 John Street North, Arnprior. A live webcast Funeral Liturgy will take place on Wednesday, April 6th at 11 o’clock.
