Obituary of Terry Smeltzer

With heavy hearts the family announces the passing of Terrance “Terry” Smeltzer of Arnprior after a valiant battle with lung and bone cancer. Terry passed peacefully surrounded by the love of his family on the evening of July 31, 2022. He is survived by his children Cindy Underschultz (Lance), Kelly Sperry, Melissa Malloy (Jonathan), Jason Smeltzer (Tonia) and Jeff Smeltzer; grandchildren Melissa, Myles, Dylan and Nathan Smeltzer, Ryan and Aidan Underschultz, Logan and Jacob Sherry, Isla, Ronan and Jasper Malloy; brothers Gary and Wayne and sisters Carol, Claire and Ann as well as many nieces and nephews.

Whether it was on the greens at the Madawaska Golf Club, on the curling sheet at the Arnprior Curling Club or at The Prior for wings on Wednesday nights, Terry’s quick smile, warm attitude and genuine personality were impossible to ignore. Terry was a loving father, cherished Grandpa and dear friend who will be greatly missed.

Since it was Terry’s happy place, his family has arranged a celebration of life drop-in at the Madawaska Golf Club, 267-271 Keatley Road, Arnprior on Tuesday, August 9, 2022 from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. In his memory, please consider a donation to the Maycourt Hospice (hospicecareottawa.ca/donate.html). Terry’s final care has been entrusted to the Pilon Family Funeral Home and Chapel Ltd., 50 John Street North, Arnprior.
