Farewell Lary! Although Rudy was timid around you with our pet therapy visits, I know you enjoyed seeing him… wish I had a picture to share.

Lary has been a good friend for a number of years. We first met at Lake Street. He came to our home to share dinner with my family often. He loved to spare with my deceased husband, Ed. My daughters insisted that Lary be asked to be an honorary pall bearer. Lary accepted and at the visitation, he made it a point to greet, shake hands and let all of our out-of-town family members know that he and Liz Campbell were to be honorary pall bearers.
Lary, Kerry and I attended church together for a number of years. As well, we made it a point to go to the Golden Lake Pow Wow every summer, rain or shine. How could I forget. In the end we decided it was better for me to hold the umbrella and Lary pushed Kerry in the wheelchair.
In his retirement years, Lary spent every Thursday with me. Olivia was a puppy and he helped to teach her new tricks. Of course, every few months we had to visit a farm with horses.
Since I moved from Arnprior, I didn't get to visit that often at the Grove but we did have a few phone calls. Will miss you, my friend and I'm so sorry to miss your Celebration of Life. Tried to reschedule a doctor's appointment without any luck but will be with you in spirit.

People could learn a lesson from Lary about living life to the fullest and appreciating the simple things in life. As you can see here, a man, having the time of his life driving a bumper car. These are one of the many examples of why Lary is a great teacher. It doesn't matter how simple things can be, if it gives you joy, you ride it! Love you and miss you, buddy. <3

Mary Lou and I have known Lary since he moved into the "New House" at the farm, on the Harlowe Road, in January of 1977. He became one of the mainstays of the community and helped to shape it as it grew. One of the big adventures was when Lary, with Donna Marie, with Mary Lou and I, and our kids Erin and Peter, travelled to France in 1978 for a gathering of the International Federation of L'Arche. After the big week-long gathering, Lary visited with L'Arche in London for a few days, and we met him there for the flight home. As for shorter trips, Lary travelled to Toronto -- by himself on the bus for a few years -- to spend Christmas with our family. Many times at Christmas, Lary would come with us to The Scott Mission in Toronto to help serve meals to the hungry coming in from the streets. When it got to the point when he could no longer make the trip to Toronto, something important about Christmas went missing. He had become as important to our celebrations as Santa and his elves. We will miss you Lary, and we will remember you always with love.

Here are some memories of Lary from his visits to Alberta. I've known Lary for 40 years. He taught me alot over those years about forgiveness, making family, faithfulness and of course welcoming. He has touched my life and through those lessons my children's lifes profoundly. I will miss his calls and our hopes of when we might see each other again. I'm so grateful we got to have a couple of visits in the last few years.

So sad to hear of Larry's passing. He always welcomed me with a smile at the Grove when I was entertaining and I knew it meant so much to him when he brought his guitar up and played along with me. You will be missed Larry and I am sure their will be a Big Rig waiting up there for you.

I met Lary as teenager many years ago when working on a local horse farm. Lary had a happy heart and when he would see me his smile was the most generous greeting I could hope for. Steady and kind, always a cowboy. Rest well.

So sorry to hear about Larry. We have so many good memories of Lary and others visiting us in North Bay and also our visits to “The Farm” in Frontenac. Yes, Larry was a good-looking cowboy. He was so kind and funny and welcoming to everyone. Just loved him. He always insisted on calling me “the Claire”. Rest In Peace Lary. I’m sure you will brighten heaven. Sending you love.

Well the dear cowboy moseyed along!! A very good cowboy he was. Thank you Lary for sharing your good heart with us. You had a wonderful gift of welcome, you kept a keen eye on community operations, you were quick to point out when things were going amuck and you cared deeply about others. Sending our love and prayers to all of L’Arche Arnprior, friends and family . Cathy, Dave, Andy, Annette, Monica, Luke and family.

Please accept my condolences on the loss of Lary. I always loved seeing him at the Grove when I visited my dad there. He knew who we were, who we were there to see and always said hi and announced our arrival. He always had a big smile on his face. RIP Lary.

Going to the Grove to visit my husband it was always nice to be greeted by Lary. He would always say my hands were cold and quickly rub them to warm them up. I will dearly miss your smiling face.
