Obituary of Diane Besco

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our wonderful mother, Diane Aline Besco (nee Laverdiere), on the morning of Saturday, September 24, 2022 at the Queensway Carleton Hospital.

Diane was predeceased by her husband Frank Besco and survived by her children Bruce Besco (Carol), Scott Besco (Elyse), Dr Janice King (David), and Sharon Besco.  Loving Grandma to Randy, Gillian, Max, Bradley, Ryan, Tyler, Cassie, Spencer, Alex, Kyla and Brianna.  Great-Grandma to Arthur, Monty, Carolina, Sam and Micah.

The oldest of 10 siblings, Diane was born 94 years ago on a farm in the small town of St-Pierre-Baptiste, Quebec.   When she was 18, Diane moved to Toronto to learn English and ended up meeting and marrying Frank, her husband of 68 years.  She was predeceased by her sisters Emily and Janine and brother Rosaire.

Diane was never still, whether it was walking, playing cards, sewing, knitting, canning peaches, baking bread, making jam or travelling across the province to babysit grandchildren — she was always helping out in some way.  She was fun, smart and competitive in everything from achieving the best grades in school to playing (and beating) the grandchildren in mini-sticks or cards.  Frank and Diane were lucky enough to have wintered in Florida for more than 25 years where they enjoyed shuffle board, cards, walking, garage sales and cocktail hour.

“You are my sunshine” was Diane’s favourite song and we will all miss the sunshine she brought into our lives. She was a “cup is half-full” person.

Diane’s private care and arrangements have been entrusted to the Pilon Family Funeral Home and Chapel Ltd., 50 John Street North, Arnprior
