John was a fantastic person in so many ways, from his amazing, professional, calming personality during funeral services; knowledgeable, professional, quality oriented businessman; hard working, giving community promoter and representative; to the proud family man he was.
I have been fortunate to have had many dealings with John in his professional persona as well as a “few” fun times in his “let your hair down” persona.
I am very grateful to have grown up in Almonte during a time that people like John did there best to make the town better.
My thoughts of John have always, and will always be of a proud, kind and professional man with a little bit of mischief in his smile.

Since John H Kerry came to Almonte so many years ago, he has been a prominent figure about town and a businessman who has been involved in many aspects of public life. He had the ability to make everyone he talked with feel special, important and appreciated.
He became a friend of our family. He drove me to my wedding as my mother did not have a car. He buried my mother, my grandmother and all my aunts and uncles.
I danced at the 50th Anniversary party that was held to celebrate his years in business. He danced at my 50th Wedding Anniversary dinner party.
This world will be the lesser place because of his death. The many people whose lives he touched will carry forth his memory and his values and remember the things that he has done for the Almonte community.
May you rest in peace, John.

I am not sure what year it was, but I remember having a small battery operated vacuum while I was at university. It wasn't working as well as it had been so my mom suggested that I go into Kerry's furniture store to see if they had a replacement battery. I hadn't brought the vacuum with me so John told me to take the new battery home. If it worked, I could come back the next week and pay for it. His care and trust have stuck with me through the years.
