Obituary of Patrick McGee

 (October 16, 1932 – October 26, 2022)

With great sadness the family announces that Patrick McGee passed away peacefully at the Arnprior and District Memorial Hospital on Wednesday October 26th, 2022.

Beloved husband of Suzanne (nee MacLean). Loving father of Colleen Larose (Peter), Maureen McGee (M.J) and Tracee Dillabough (Mike). Step-father of Nancy Leece (Robert). Cherished grandfather of Ryan, Jessica (Pat), Tanner, Alexander, Joseph and Jack. Step-grandfather of Katie and Tristan. Proud great-grandfather of Reggie.  Pat will be fondly remembered by sister-in-law Elaine as well as his nieces and nephews, Sharon, Danny (predeceased), Sarah, Amy, Billy and John.  He is predeceased by his parents Bernard and Evelyn (nee Gorman) as well as his siblings Bud, Mary and Audrey.  Patrick was born in Ottawa and raised at 119 York Street in the Byward Market. It was there that he learned so much about the ways of the world and what you can achieve with hard work and determination. From selling fruits and vegetables on the market as a young child to a 35-year career with the Federal Government, much of it with External Affairs, where he got to travel and see so much of the world, to then branching off on his own with his wife Sue, establishing Patrick R. McGee Sales and running it successfully for a number of years before finally retiring. This allowed him to really enjoy life, spending winters in Florida and summers on Otty Lake and more recently Mink Lake with family and the many friends he made along the way.  Pat will be remembered for his charismatic personality and million-dollar smile. He was generous and kind and always loved to share his words of wisdom and a good joke. He was fond of horses, had a passion for cars and appreciated cold beers with good company. He loved music, singing and was an accomplished tap dancer back in the day. And just as he was raised, he remained a man of strong faith throughout his life, attending Mass weekly until he was no longer able, always praying for others before himself.  A Funeral Mass for Patrick will be held on Tuesday morning, November 1st at 11:00 am in St. John Chrysostom Church, 295 Albert Street, Arnprior. Interment Capital Memorial Gardens, Nepean.

An Irish Blessing…

May the road rise up to meet you,

May the wind always be at your back.

May the sun shine warm upon your face,

And rains fall soft upon your fields.

And until we meet again,

May God hold you in the palm of his hand.
