Obituary of Ronald Cunningham

 

Ron Cunningham of Ottawa passed away at the Stillwater Creek Retirement Residence, Ottawa on Wednesday morning, November 9, 2022. He was 80.

Ron is survived by his wife Gail; daughter Irene and her husband, Peter Shaw; brother Larry Cunningham (Sandra Petrie); sister Karen Charbonneau (Joe) and sister-in-law Mary Anne Cunningham.  He was predeceased by his parents Harold and Irene Cunningham as well as brothers Lon and Allen Cunningham.

 

Ron was born in Arnprior on December 12, 1941. He attended and graduated from Arnprior District High School. He went on to earn a diploma in Automated Electronics Technology from the Radio College of Canada. He worked as an Elevator Mechanic for Otis Elevator for 30 years. He enjoyed going for drives with his wife, gardening, cooking, baking, and tinkering in the workshop.  He was a wonderful husband and father making sure his family always had everything they needed and felt safe and loved.

 

Ron’s final care has been entrusted to the Pilon Family Funeral Home and Chapel Ltd., 50 John Street North, Arnprior where visitation will be held on Tuesday morning, November 15th from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. A Tribute to Ron will take place in the Pilon Family Chapel at 11 o’clock. A luncheon will follow with interment at the White Lake Cemetery afterward.

 

The family wishes to extend their gratitude to friends and family for the support and love they offered through this journey, along with thanks to the dedicated team at Chartwell Stillwater Creek Retirement Residence who provided Ron with compassionate care.

 

In memory of Ron, a donation made to the Dementia Society of Ottawa and Renfrew County or the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada would be appreciated.
