Obituary of Marg Mellor

MELLOR, Margaret

(nee Stanton)

(Retired RN – U of O Heart Institute)

Following a lengthy journey through dementia, Marg passed away rather suddenly at the Queensway-Carleton Hospital in Ottawa on Monday morning, November 21, 2022. She was 82. Beloved wife of the late John Mellor (April 28, 2021). Dear sister of Gerald Stanton (late Patsy) ( Marilyn Dalgleish) of Arnprior; George Stanton (Janet) of Fitzroy Harbour and Marian Fisher (Garry) of Arnprior. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Daughter of the late Walter and Elsie (nee Casey) Stanton formerly of Fitzroy Harbour. Marg enjoyed a very rewarding career as a Registered Nurse. She trained and graduated from the Lorrain School of Nursing in Pembroke. She went on to the Ottawa Civic Hospital. She eventually became Head Nurse at the University of Ottawa Heart Institute…a position she cherished and was proud to occupy until her eventual retirement. The family takes comfort in knowing she and John have been reunited once more and they are both at peace.

Marg’s final care has been entrusted to the Pilon Family Funeral Home and Chapel Ltd., 50 John Street North, Arnprior. Family and friends are invited to a Funeral Mass to be celebrated in St. Michael’s Church, Fitzroy Harbour on Wednesday morning, November 30th at 11 o’clock. The family will be present at the Church to welcome guests from 10:30 to 11 a.m. Interment Parish Cemetery. A reception will follow at the Fitzroy Harbour Community Centre.

In Marg’s memory, please consider a donation to the Arnprior Food Bank or the Arnprior District Humane Society.
