Obituary of Joyce McCuaig

(nee Headrick)

With heaviest of hearts, the McCuaig family announces that Joyce Elaine McCuaig of Arnprior passed away at the Ottawa General Hospital while surrounded by family, love and prayers on Friday morning, January 6, 2023. She was 78.

Beloved wife for over 59 years of Jack. Dearly loved mother of Shawn and Derek (Sherri), both of Arnprior. Predeceased by an infant son, John Paul. Proud and cherished Grandma of Taylor, Mary and Jacob. Dear sister of Allan Headrick (Lynn) of Carp and Murray Reid (Laura Brohart) of Renfrew. Fondly remembered by her nieces, nephews and many wonderful neighbors, friends and extended family members. 

Predeceased by her father, Ken Headrick; her mother Mildred (nee Walker) Headrick as well as her stepfather, Cedric Reid.

Joyce loved life. Her work was important to her but she valued time spent with family and friends so much more. She took pleasure in the simpler things in life. Always there to help others and share her wisdom when it was asked for. She never made anyone feel that they were a burden to her. Though health issues were many these past few years, Joyce faced them with courage, strength and faith…the very same traits that guided her through her entire life.

A beautiful spirit has left our midst. She will be missed. Jack and his family wish to express heartfelt thanks to the staff of the Arnprior Hospital, the Renfrew County Paramedics, Home Care nurses as well as the many family and friends who always went above and beyond to check in on Joyce and make sure she had everything she needed. Thanks most of all for your love.

Joyce’s final arrangements have been entrusted to the care of the Pilon Family Funeral Home and Chapel Ltd., 50 John Street North, Arnprior.

Family and friends were invited to a Service to celebrate Joyce’s life that was held in Emmanuel Anglican Church, 287 Harrington Street, Arnprior on Friday morning, January 13^th at 11 o’clock. A luncheon followed in the Carlton Reid Memorial Hall.

All were welcome to attend.
