The first time I met my fathet-in-law, 21 years ago, he politely told me I had his fork. I set the table for supper and took his fork and put it on my placemat. He gave me a bright smile, laughed and said not joking but it’s ok, you can use it. Lol
He was always a great host. Made sure we always had a drink in our hands and food in front of us.
Camping at Whispering Pines, spending time and sleep overs at Constance Lake, he always welcomed us with open arms. Excited to see us and spend time together.
When Melanie was born, he was a proud papa! He would go to her ringette games and cheer her on. He was too happy to help her get into her gear and tie her skates.
Melanie and him would look at the paper together, eat chips and cheese together, build fires, fish, swim, go for walks, and so much more. She loved going camping with them—full of smiles and excited to go with her memere and papa for the weekend, holding her little suitcase. Lol
Bernie was a great father-in-law, dad and grandpa. We know he is in heaven, as he did the savours prayer with us and did the same thing many years before, as well. This gives me comfort as I will see him again—when I go to heaven. We love you Bernie. Xoxo

Helene and family, I am so sorry to hear of Bernie's passing. My sincere condolences. You will have many good memories of days gone by shared with Bernie. How he lovesd fishing. I remember Bernie going fishing in Constance Bay and bringing back those fishes to give to the cats in the back yard. I see him in the back yard cutting those fishes. Bernie is looking so good in the chosen picture of his obituary. He is now in the hands of the Lord, he has gone to be with those that went before him, he has been well received at that table in the sky. His star will shine brightly in the sky, he will be looking down at you and all that knew him. Bernie will be missed by a great number of family and friends. Rest in peace Bernie.

Dear matante Helene, Marc and family, Charity and I are sorry to hear about uncle Bernie's passing. We all knew it was coming but it still leaves a huge hole in our heart.
Like Steve, I remember the huge sand mound of sand with the road for our matchbox cars to drive on. Heck, we even had the white lines on the road. They were made from strips of material from a lawn-chair.
Also when he took us fishing after almost a whole week of anticipation.
And we had breakfast when we were all sitting at the table; he was in charge of the buttering the toasts. Somehow he made them taste better by the way he spread the butter.
There's also snowmobiling but I'd rather keep some memories for an other time.
Love you, as always, Paul.
Hugs.
