Dear family and friends of Father Roy. I am so very sorry and completely heartbroken at his passing. I met Father Roy in 1994 when he was my boss at St. Joseph's Hospital in Hamilton and we have maintained a friendship ever since. He didn't take long to gain my respect and admiration as a true man of God. He was so caring and funny and had the best laugh ever. Although I will miss him terribly in my life I am peaceful that he won't be suffering anymore and that his beautiful soul can now fly free. Dear Father Roy. There are no words to thank you enough for the blessing that you have been in my life. I hope you are laughing with the angels now. Rest in peace and love always sweet friend. Elisa

We'd like to extend our deepest sympathy to Edith, Anne and the entire Boucher family, as well as Roy's Oblate family. We have been blessed to have Fr. Roy as our friend for over 50 years. He has celebrated many happy occasions with us and has helped us through some tough times as well. As we read these messages here, it is obvious that he made all of us feel special, that our relationship with him really mattered. He was a great listener, a great laugher, a lover of life, a devoted friend to many. We will miss him so much.

So many great memories of Uncle Roy (JR) over the many years. He left the family homestead the year I was born for the priesthood. Always visiting most years through my childhood - especially during lobster season! So many weddings christenings and funerals. One summer he brought me a bike, wasn’t a banana bike like my cousins had but was a set of wheels that I didn’t have.
He was like a cat - surviving all the health issues over the years! Really enjoyed his visit last June, he got to meet the kids after several years (photo of me and brother Chuck with JR).
He had a wonderful sense of humour, a teaser, loved to play cribbage with a drink of rum, and wow he was great at card tricks, loved to play the ponies too! His many many years of service has touched so many people, he will be surely missed. My condolences to Aunts Theresa, Edith and Anne and Uncle Gus! ❤️

We extend our deepest sympathy and condolences to Fr. Roy's family and to all who knew and loved him. I learned a lot from him during my time at St. Martin's, 1970 - 1972. We kept in touch. Fr. Roy celebrated our marriage with us in Peterborough in 1978. We saw him again in Ottawa just a few years ago. He will be missed.

My deepest sympathies to Roy’s family. I entered St Martin’s under Roy’s signature and I entered Novitate with his approval. When I decided to leave the Oblates it was he who supported my decision and gave me the encouragement I needed. Roy was a huge influence on my early adult life and for that I am always grateful. I will never forget he and I getting kicked out of Bengie’s Room (many times) over our very loyal support of the Montreal Canadians even though Bengie’s Boston were trumping Montreal. It was the cheating referees, don’t you know! God speed Roy and thanks.

I only met Fr. Roy in recent years, when we served on the Waupoos board of directors, but I always looked forward to a short chat with him before or after the meeting - or, better yet, both! I'd wear my Cape Breton sweatshirt to remind him of his Nova Scotia home. He left an impression that will never fade. May God bless you greatly in your new life, Fr. Roy!

I was so saddened to hear of Fr. Roy’s passing. Deepest condolences to both his family and his Oblate family. Both Ron and I enjoyed times spent with Roy listening to his stories and jokes as only he could tell! Ron and Roy developed a special bond over the years, and I will never forget Roy’s compassion and help during Ron’s last few months. He was indeed a very special person who will be greatly missed! RIP Fr. Roy

I will miss Fr boucher... I lived across the road from the Holy Rosary scholasticate and started a long frienship with Roy Boucher and his cousin Brother Paul Breen who was the cook in those early years. Brother Paul Breen referred to his cousin as "Da liddle fellow". . Roy had been a friend of our family for many years and we kept in touch over the years. While all my 5 brothers and sisters mourn his passing this is especially sad for my sister in austria who communicated with Roy on a regular basis.
Roy rest in peace you did yeoman work and had a positive impact on all who met you

My deep and heartfelt condolences to all of Roy's family, including his Oblate family.
He was my friend since I met him on the school bus 66 years ago. I was impressed then and continued to be impressed to the end. As his secretary in the Provincial Office; at Galilee for the Renewal Program; Galilee Proclaims; and all other aspects of life (which always included my children) to the present. He certainly kept the faith and fought the great fight to the end. We were all blessed to know him, and enjoy his loving presence as well as his infectious humor.
May your grief be tempered by the knowledge that he is free and interceding for us powerfully.

Uncle Roy was extremely blessed to have had two wonderful families; his loving large family that he was born into and his vocation religious family. He truly loved both. The Oblates have always been a major part of the Boucher extended family.I was the 7th child of Roy’s brother, William. When I was only hours old, Roy ( not yet ordained), Fr Brendan Megannety and John Allan Cameron arrived at St Martha’s in Antigonish on route to Cape Breton. Mom didn’t have a name picked out so they decided on “Brenda “ after Fr. Brendan. 35 years later twins Brendan and Megan joined our family. Lots of memories being shared about a special uncle. Our heartfelt sympathy to Dad’s 4 remaining siblings.
