Our sincere condolences to Penny and Julia and all of Erick's family. We are sorry for his passing. We've been friends with Erick for the past 25 years (amicably known as Vanasse in our friend circle). He was a great friend to have. Here are a few memories we can remember Erick by:
1- His willingness to spend time with Family and Friends - even though Erick had a busy schedule, he always found time to spend with Friends and Family. Saturday evening suppers with friends will always be remembered. He always had interesting stories to share. These won't be the same without him.
2- His calm demeanor. Erick was always pleasant to be around and always calm. With such a stressful work schedule, we don't know how he managed. The times we'd see him riled up, it was usually during our geeky Saturday game nights.
3- On a lighter note, his love of egg rolls and butter tarts. In high school, I saw him polish about a dozen egg rolls. Butter tarts were his go-to desserts. He often mention that these store-bought butter tarts were good but no were as good as his mother's butter tarts.
You'll be missed by all Erick. Fred and Val.

When we heard of the passing of Erick, we were deeply saddened. This tragedy has taken away a genuinely warm and compassionate individual — more importantly, a loving husband, father and brother, and deprived many more of a good friend. We had the pleasure of meeting Erick and Patrick years ago when they oversaw renovations at our dental practice in Kanata. We were so impressed with them both that we enlisted them to help us with our home. It was quite evident that both Patrick and Erick had a very close bond which showed in their working relationship. They always offered valuable and truthful advice. To us, Erick was more than a contractor, he was a friend. His calm disposition, coupled with his kind, gentle spirit, constantly put us at ease. He consistently went above and beyond, carried out his work with integrity, and always had our best interest in mind. His creativity and determination allowed us to take our visions and turn them into a reality. We welcomed Erick into our home with open arms and entrusted him to helping us redesign our most sacred spaces. We will never be able to truly thank him for everything he did for us, our family, and our dental team. He will be remembered fondly and held in the highest regards, from our hearts to the four walls of our practice.

Erick wasn't just a man who helped me build my dental practice, but he was also a beacon of honesty, integrity, and dedication. To the Vanasse Family, Erick was a part of our Sinclair Dental family for many years and helped us on numerous dental projects. He always worked with honesty, integrity, and good humour which resignated with his entire construction team. No matter how big or small the project was, he put forth endless amounts of effort and long days to complete the project on time. Our dental community will feel this void for many years ahead but everytime we enter into one of his projects, we will be reminded of Erick's personal touch. We will miss Erick's phone calls, our site visits, but most of all, we will miss your infectious smile, laughter and your calm demeanour that you brought with you every time. Rest in peace our dear Erick.

Erick has been a customer of mine at European Glass & Paint for many years. I always enjoyed speaking with him whenever he would come in for wallcoverings. He was so easy going and always had a smile on his face. You were taken far too soon but your legacy that you leave behind are the many projects that you took on and completed with perfection. You will be missed by many and I will miss you popping into our shop and spending time with you. May your memory be a blessing to all who knew you for many years to come.

I spent the better part of 8 years working alongside Erick on projects big and small. Our adventures took us to every corner of this city and beyond. I always knew I could count on Erick to act with integrity and honesty. His smile and demeanour often disarmed the most discerning of clients. He quickly became a trusted advisor and partner to all he encountered. On a number of occasions Erick came to personally help me on projects at my house when I knew he had more pressing work to tend to. He was an all around great guy. Always ready with a wisecrack or just his calming demeanour, he made an impact. I know how difficult this must be on you Pat, please take good care. Heartfelt condolences to Erick’s wife, daughter and family.

I had the pleasure of meeting Erick about 4 years ago. He was recommended as the only person who could help me build my new dental office. I wasn't sure at first, but as they say never judge a book by its cover. Over the next few meetings I felt comfortable entrusting Erick with building my home for the rest of my career. I am very glad I did. The entire project was built on trust. No contracts and no deposits. I was very saddened when Erick told me he was not well. As usual he did it with his trademark smile. It was hard to hear of his passing last week. My heartfelt condolences go out to his wife and daughter, his bother Patrick and all of his family and friends. He was a true gentleman and will be profoundly missed by all who knew him.

Like so many in the dental community, we had the pleasure of working with Erick to renovate and expand our office space. Building an office is not an easy endeavor and not without its many stresses but Erick made it feel easy with his calm personality, cheerful demeanor and easy fixes to any issues that arose. His trademark sign off of “sounds like a plan” always ensured a sense of calm that he would handle any situation that arose. I came to know Eric around two years back when he constructed my office. His professionalism and work ethics are a rare find in today’s world. I always enjoyed talking to him and once told him he cannot retire before he makes my next office. But I guess God had different plans from him.
Last time I met him, it was in my office six months back, with all his health struggle he still carried the spark in him to live and smile. He was a man with rare qualities. I will always remember him in my thoughts. It was my honor to know Eric in this lifetime. My sincere and deepest condolences to his Family

In Loving Memory of Erick,
It is with profound sadness and heavy hearts that we write this tribute to our dear friend Erick, who passed away a few days ago. Erick was not just our general contractor, but a friend who held a significant place in our lives and hearts. He was the craftsman who took our vision and made it tangible, creating the beautiful space that we work in today. But more than that, he became a cherished part of our lives, sharing laughter, wisdom, and countless stories.
Erick was not the kind of man who needed to sign a contract to assure you of his commitment. Our first meeting was marked with heartfelt laughter and an easy agreement sealed with a simple handshake. We found more pleasure in discussing the idyllic charm of Mahone Bay, Nova Scotia, than the nuts and bolts of our office project. It was in these personal moments where we truly discovered the richness of his character.
Throughout our friendship, Erick stood out as a beacon of integrity, kindness, and resilience. His strength of character was matched only by the warmth of his heart. He was a true friend, who was always there when we needed him. Thea and I were genuinely looking forward to sharing the joy of his retirement in Mahone Bay, a cherished dream which now, regrettably, remains unfulfilled.
Our deepest condolences go out to Julia, Patrick, and Penny. It's hard to imagine the enormity of your loss, but we stand with you in this trying time. We hope the pride and comfort in his remarkable legacy, and the fond memories you shared together, offer some solace.
Every client who walked into our office has been in awe of Erick's handiwork, his craftsmanship is imprinted in every corner of our workspace. His patience was exemplary. I remember countless times when we would change plans or modify aspects of the office. But no matter how many alterations were made, Erick remained calm, collected, and always wore his trademark warm smile.
Erick, though you are no longer with us, your spirit lives on in the hearts of all who knew and loved you. Your legacy is not just the walls of our office, but the indelible mark you have left on our lives. You were more than a contractor to us, you were a dear friend whose absence will be deeply felt.
Julia and Penny, Erick was a man you can be truly proud of. He lived his life with grace, humility, and unwavering kindness. His passion for his work and his love for his friends and family were always evident. We were blessed to know him, and his memories will forever be etched in our hearts.
As we bid farewell to Erick, we celebrate a life well lived, a job well done, and a legacy that will endure. In the brick and mortar of our office, in the laughter and stories we shared, and most importantly, in the friendship we built - Erick lives on.
Rest in peace, dear friend. We will miss you.

Erick you will be forever remembered and forever missed. All my family appreciated him, not only me, but also my husband and parents, they had the chance to meet him during different stages of construction of my office. All of us could see his good heart and spirit through his eyes and laugh, an angel walking on earth. He always found a solution to all our construction problems and mishaps, always calm, always with a contagious smile. He was a real gem, followed the path of honesty and hard work. I have a daughter same age as Penny and I remember how we always talked about our girls, how everything we do we do for them. Our heartfelt condolences to your family.

What can one say about a man who always smiled no matter the circumstance or problem. I had the fortune of meeting Erick when he built my clinic, perhaps in the most challenging time to possibly have to do it (mid COVID). Never once did he stop smiling, never once did he say anything was impossible. Even when he was going through hardships with his health recently, he never showed it and kept the biggest smile on his face. God bless him and repose his soul. I have no doubt where this man is now in joy and comfort with the Lord.
