Obituary of Ron Mitchell

With heavy hearts, the family announces that Ron passed away unexpectedly at the Saanich Peninsula Hospital, Sidney, BC on Wednesday, July 5, 2023.

Born in Ottawa on December 28, 1934, Ron was the son of late Fred Mitchell and Pearl Mitchell/Stewart (nee Armstrong). 

He is survived by his long-time friend and partner, Lara Hess as well as his former wife, Patricia (nee Babcock) Mitchell.

He is also survived by his only sister, Gail Hayes (Brian) of Arnprior. He leaves many nieces and nephews to mourn his loss.

Ron moved to Fairview, Alberta at the age of 18 to carve a life for himself. He was a typesetter with the Edmonton Journal for many years. While working at the Edmonton Journal he was investing in Apartment Buildings and after leaving the Journal he continued to invest in real estate and was very involved in Property Management. He eventually moved to British Columbia to spend his final years on Vancouver Island near Sidney and Victoria.

Ron’s final care has been entrusted to the

Pilon Family Funeral Home and Chapel Ltd., 50 John Street North, Arnprior

where visitation will be held on Friday, August 11^th from 10-10:45 a.m. and where a service in celebration of Ron’s life will take place in the Pilon Family Chapel at 11 o’clock.

Reception to follow.

Interment in the Armstrong Family Plot at Pinecrest Cemetery, Ottawa.
