Obituary of Sandra "Sam" MacIntyre
MACINTYRE, Sandra “Sam”
Sandra Mary Ann “Sam” MacIntyre passed away peacefully at her home, with her family by her side on Saturday July 15th, 2023. Sam was in her 89th year having just celebrated her birthday with family and friends June 17th. Daughter of the late Joseph and Bernadette (nee Kane) Guilmette. Beloved wife of the late Malcolm “Mac” MacIntyre (2019). Loving mother of Douglas MacIntyre (Bonnie) of Arnprior, the late Jonathan MacIntyre (Kelly) of Braeside and Lisa MacIntyre of Kanata. Devoted Grandmother to Hayley Sevigny (Mike) of Pakenham and Cameron MacIntyre of Galetta. In recent years Sam became a Great Grandmother “GG” to Flynn and Millie Sevigny. Dear sister to Rosemary Stringer (Robert) of Renfrew, Richard Guilmette (Lois) of Tottenham). Predeceased by sisters Joan Hunter (late Gordon) and Shirley Laderoute (late Joe). Sam will be deeply missed by many nieces and nephews and her beloved fur baby Murphy.
Sam was an avid knitter, she always had a project on the go and if she wasn’t knitting sweaters, hats, mitts or doll clothes for family, she was knitting countless baby outfits for friends and family baby showers. Her greatest joy of late was her great granddaughters Flynn and Millie, she couldn’t get enough of these wee girls, their visits, smiles and chaos and every picture and video there was of them that she could get her hands on.
Through the years Sam’s life was enriched with a special group of ladies who were her extended “sisters”. If they weren’t out for lunch, having a cup of tea and a chat, sitting by the fireside at Lake Dore, at the Stiches knitting group or Fat Ladies where they would pay the pig then proceed to Timmies for a donut and coffee, they were burning up the phone lines. These ladies made sure her social calendar was filled to the brim, and always went above and beyond to make sure she had everything she needed, she was blessed to have such wonderful friends both old and new.
Special thank you to nieces Nancy Kippen and Debbie Bennett for all the loving care they provided to their Aunt Sandra.
The family wish to express heartfelt thank you to Matt Rouselle, the Renfrew County Paramedics, Amanda Escobar, Dr. Yau, the nurses, doctors and support staff at the Arnprior & District Memorial Hospital for their exceptional care, compassion and support.
Sam’s care and arrangements have been entrusted to the Pilon Family Funeral Home and Chapel Ltd. 50 John St. North, Arnprior.
A Funeral Mass was held at St. John Chrysostom Church on Thursday Morning, July 20th, at 11 o’clock. Interment followed at Malloch Road Cemetery, Arnprior prior to a reception in the Pilon Family Reception Centre.
In lieu of flowers we ask that you share a donation in Sam’s memory with the Arnprior Regional Health Foundation.
We will miss you.
