Obituary of Madeleine "Maddy" Lascelle
(nee Muldoon)
With sadness the family announces that Maddy passed away peacefully at the Queensway-Carleton Hospital while surrounded by loved ones on Friday morning, October 6, 2023. She was 88.
Beloved wife of the late Ed Lascelle (February 27, 2010). Cherished mother of Terry (Lorraine) and Kirby (Marjorie). Predeceased by her son Michael (February 27, 1992). Beloved Nan of Erin Robertson (Jason), Lindsay Lascelle, Brin Lascelle, Josh Lascelle (Jennifer Cregan), Dana Lascelle, and much loved G.G. of Griffin, Madeleine (Maddy’s namesake), Tori and Colton. Step Nan of Chris Porter, Leanne Chislett (Nick) and Heather Porter (Michael Dervenis). Cherished and respected “Aunt Maddy” to all her nieces, nephews and even a few non-relatives alike!
Maddy’s blue “Irish eyes” and warm smile welcomed people and touched hearts wherever she went and in all she did. From the early years of her work at Kenwood Mills, to the cottagers and campers in the Resort business that Ed and Madeleine started, to the customers and sales people in Lascelle Electric’s business, to the years of PSW work with clients at ParaMed, to the years of volunteer work with the Hospital Women’s Auxiliary, and in the years of her career at Seniors at Home.
Maddy had a warm, compassionate heart for everyone, especially those in need or just “down on their luck” and believed a warm hug was a very therapeutic medicine to brighten any situation. She welcomed everyone through her door and never let them leave without food or drink.
Maddy’s last few months were spent at the Arnprior Villa, where she was able to enjoy special times with many old friends and new acquaintances alike. Even there, she was always available to encourage, comfort and share a laugh or a hug with anyone who needed it.
Maddy had a strong faith in God through a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. She loved the Lord and was quick to tell people He was Who they needed for all their needs. She loved holiday times, especially Christmas and Thanksgiving to celebrate with family. Wonderfully, she is now home for the ultimate Thanksgiving, with her heavenly family.
Although greatly missed here, she is now where she has always wanted to be.
The family would like to extend sincere thanks to the caring staff at Arnprior Villa, to Mitch and Mark in Arnprior ER and to Jordan and the Doctors at QCH ICU.
Maddy’s care and arrangements have been entrusted to the Pilon Family Funeral Home and Chapel Ltd., 50 John Street North, Arnprior where visitation was held on Wednesday evening, October 11th from 6-8 and again on Thursday morning from 9:30 to 10:30.
