Obituary of Renate Loeschnik

(nee Wistuba)

March 10, 1932 – October 22, 2023

Our mother passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 22, 2023, at the Arnprior and District Memorial Hospital.  Born in Breslau, Germany, she emigrated to Canada with her family in 1953.  Renate was a loving and devoted wife to Frank who predeceased her in May of 2022; a loving mother to Ingrid (Tom) and Thomas (Patricia) and proud Oma to Rachel (Nick).  She is fondly remembered by her sister Marianne Loeschnik (Rudolph) and brother Peter Wistuba (Carol) and her nieces and nephews and their families.

Renate was hardworking and devoted to her family.  She was an amazing storyteller and loved to tell us about her childhood in Germany and the early years in Montreal.  She loved to paint and sew and took on many projects at home alongside our dad.  Mom was a wonderful hostess and loved to have family and friends over for dinner.  Everyone she met remarked she was a lady.

Special thanks to her family doctor, Dr. Earl Gordon and the nurses at the Arnprior Hospital and the staff at the Arnprior Villa.

Our mother’s final care has been entrusted to the Pilon Family Funeral Home and Chapel Ltd., 50 John Street North, Arnprior where visitation took place on Saturday morning, November 4th from 10 to 11 a.m. A Service to honor and remember Mom was held in the Pilon Family Chapel at 11:30. A reception followed. Private interment Malloch Road Cemetery, Arnprior

Donations in Renate’s memory may be made to the Arnprior Hospital.
