Obituary of Graham Riley Fergusson

Our hearts are broken into a million pieces as we announce the unexpected passing of our son, Graham, early Sunday morning, November 26, 2023 in Ottawa.

Graham was born June 14, 1985 in Calgary, AB to his loving parents Rick Fergusson and Maryjane Strelbisky. Treasured nephew of Anne Darling (Tom), Michael Strelbisky (Darcy), Walter Strelbisk, Janice Dempsey as well as his great Aunt Joan. Loving cousin of Mary (Glen), Nic (Alisha), John (Vanessa), Joe (Victoria), Amy, Erica, Shaun, Shannon, Stephanie, Eric and Gary as well as 15 second cousins. Graham will be missed by his close friends: Kevin, Scotty, Kerry, Russell, Veronica, Michael and Asif; family friends: Peter, Kathleen, Christopher and Courtney as well as Maryjane's CHEO coworkers and his cats: Tony, Emily and Tucker.

Predeceased by his grandparents: Jim and Averil Fergusson, Walter and Beatrice Strelbisky and his uncle, Brian Fergusson.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to all of the amazing people who had a positive impact in Graham's life. Your kindness and love was always felt.

Graham attended elementary school in Kinburn; high school in West Carleton and his final year at Frederick Banting. Following that, Graham worked at several places including Edgewood Golf Course, Wendy’s, Corel Center and the Ottawa-Carleton School Board.  Graham loved life. He especially loved golfing with his friends, cousins and uncles. He played in many tournaments including the Sun Scramble. He also golfed in Alberta and Newfoundland while on holidays. Graham loved time spent at Gramma’s; watching Jeopardy with Walter; Sunday football with his Dad; attending community events with his Mom and going to Ottawa Sens and 67’s games. Graham was very kindhearted and had a generous spirit. He volunteered with many agencies: CHEO telethon from age 9; Brian Smith Foundation; Boys and Girls Club; CNIB and Ottawa Senators Foundation. Graham often gave clothes, water and food to those living on the street. He enjoyed senior citizens and they enjoyed him. He talked to everyone he met and always had a good chat with his neighbors. His lively spirit will be missed by his family and friends.

Graham’s care has been entrusted to the Pilon Family Funeral Home and Chapel Ltd., 50 John Street North, Arnprior.

A Celebration of his Life will take place at the Kinburn Community Centre, 3045 Kinburn Side Road on Saturday afternoon, June 1st from 2-5.

In his memory, please consider a donation to the Arnprior District Humane Society. You may also consider planting snapdragons in your flower beds or gardens next Spring as these were Graham’s favorite flower.
