Obituary of Della Hobbs
(nee Schrankler)
With great sadness, the family announces that their beloved Della passed away peacefully at Hospice Renfrew on Saturday, January 20, 2024; Della Deanna Minna Hobbs of Arnprior was in her 85th year.
Beloved wife and best friend of Versal for over 65 years.
Much loved and devoted mother of the late Douglas, Daniel (Susan Scott) and Kimberley (Maria Escott). Cherished and lovingly remembered by her grandchildren Clayton (Shea-Lin Jones) and Colin.
Predeceased by her dear siblings Karl, Frieda, Ernest, Eric, and Lawrence.
She is survived by many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Daughter of the late Minna Johanna Schrankler.
Born of humble beginnings but strong in character, Della had a passion for knowledge and would fulfil this through reading, travel, and completing her MBA, later in life than most.
On subjects from monarchies and dynasties, the early influencers in modern industry, history and Canadiana, Della had a book on the shelf that was read and often re-read.
Having set foot on six of the seven continents at some point in her life, the book experiences were filled in with firsthand experiences, often travelling to places she had previously read about.
As a mom she would always encourage her children and grandchildren challenging them to learn new things.
Later in life when travel was no longer possible, Della would speak about experiences she had with great passion and in perfect detail.
The family wish to express heartfelt thanks to the nurses, staff and volunteers at Hospice Renfrew who provided Della and the entire family with above and beyond love and care.
Your kindnesses will never be forgotten.
Della’s final care and arrangements have been entrusted to the
Pilon Family Funeral Home and Chapel Ltd., 50 John Street North, Arnprior
where visitation was held on Sunday afternoon, January 28th from 2 to 4 p.m. only.
A private family graveside service took place at the Zion Lutheran Cemetery, Schwartz, Quebec later in the Spring.
In memory of Della, please consider a donation to Hospice Renfrew.
