I worked at the lab for many years and this is where I first met Jan . He didn’t come in often but we always shared many laughs over the years . I was always afraid he would hit his head on our sign when he entered . My condolences to his family .

To Jan’s family in Canada and the Netherlands my sincere sympathies.
Jan or John as I knew him so long ago in the Trust and Loan Division of the Department of Insurance was a man of great enthusiasm for life. We had many wonderful conversations and good times together. I remember the day he came to work with one black shoe and one brown shoe on. It was mid afternoon when we both noticed and what a laugh we had. He was kind, generous and enjoyed the best in live. He will be miss by many.

My sincere condolence to Jan’s family and loved ones. Jan and I worked at OSFI together a long time ago and we have not been in touch for many years, but I have found memories of him. The last time we spoke, he gave me very practical advice on working abroad. He was working in the Cayman Islands at the time. Such a nice man. I am sure that he will be missed by all!

JAN WAS MY OLDEST BROTHER AND HE LEFT HOLLAND WHEN HE WAS ONLY 20 YEARS! HE REALLY ENJOYED LIFE IN CANADA WITH HIS CHILDREN AND GRANDCHILDREN. HE LIKED TO TRAVEL AND WE MADE WONDERFUL TRIPS TO BERLIN, BASTOGNE AND NORMANDY IN FRANCE. HE ALSO LIKED GOOD FOOD AND A GLASS OF SCOTCH, TOGETHER WITH FRIENDS AND FAMILY: “GEZELLIG” ! WE WILL MISS HIM, A GREAST BROTHER/BROTHER-IN-LAW.

Our heartfelt condolences to all of Jan's family. We had the pleasure of knowing him for many years as a friend and neighbour in The Bay. He was a part of our community and we have many fond memories of chatting with him at Rhoddy's Bay meetings ,social functions or just when he was out touring in his truck. He was a man of large stature with an even larger and kind heart. He will be missed.

Our deepest condolences. Jan was a lovely neighbour who always took the time to stop by for a chat. He also made it a point to send out lovely Christmas cards of his fantastic view of the Ottawa River. His gentle giant stature and distinct laughter will be dearly missed. Sincere sympathies to Jan's friends and family.

Jan was my neighbour while I was growing up in Ottawa. He was such a dynamic presence - you always knew when Jan was in the room.
If he saw you walking back home from the bus stop he’d always offer a lift. It was so nice of him!
Jan was excellent at keeping in touch with his friends. After both he and my parents moved away from Ottawa, Jan continued to keep in touch. I always loved hearing about those phone calls from my parents.
To all of Jan’s friends and family, I am so sorry for your loss.

Our condolences to Kris and Monika and family. Unfortunately our health is such that we will not be able to attend in person but will attend virtually on Friday.
We enjoyed Jan’ s company on many occasions- both at dinners and at Scotch tastings. We will always remember his distinctive laugh and joie de vivre. Jan loved to entertain especially at the cottage and we have good memories of our time there. Please extend our condolences to Marika as we met her on her visits to Canada. John and Mary Audcent

A groups of us(Kris and his friends) started a tradition to play golf on what we referred to as “Father’s Day weekend”. Over the years it turned into weekend @Jan’s. He was awesome and so much fun. I always found that he really enjoyed people, life and loved being in the conversation. I still laugh at the nickname he gave me (little boy) and will always remember the great conversations we had. He will be missed but never forgotten.
Our deepest condolences to friends and family.
The Tremblays.
