Dear Kathy
I just heard about Glenn's passing yesterday upon my return from Florida and I am so sad for you and your family. We go way back to 1970 where we attended Algonquin College Recreation Leadership Program together. Over the years we kept in touch as we journeyed through the Recreation field and remained the best of friends. He will be missed big time and his community passion will alwys be foremost in our minds.

I just learned of Archie's passing and wish to send sincere condolences to Kathy and family. I had the occasion to know Glenn from our days at Algonquin College and later in the field of municipal recreation and his affiliation with KidSport. Archie was a dedicated employee and volunteer. He was well respected by all his colleagues who had the pleasure of collaborating with him.
His legacy will be remembered fondly
Sincerely

This was one of the last times Glenn and I spoke and might I add had a laugh as we usually did. I should have been in jail with them! That was the day Glenn said to me I am not done yet. He will live on and I choose to remember these fun times and how he made me smile. Right back to Salute to the Valley Committee days. Gone but NEVER forgotten.

Kathy & Family - I have edited this Poem a bit to reflect Your Family & let you know Glenn is not far away!
>The Voice of the Wind<
When the warm – fresh fall breeze of October caresses You ~ part of it will Me
When You look into the eyes of …My best friend & forever partner Kathy /My beautiful daughters Erin & Amanda /My awesome son Shane & their spouses Barry, Sarah & Darryl
& My wonderful ~Rays of Sunshine ~My grandchildren -Madison, Hunter, Mason, MacKenna, Anderson, Langley, Anastasia & Doyle …
~ part of Them will be Me !
**Please know that Camden is here by My side!**
~When a snowflake of winter -gently lands on your cheek
~ that Kiss might well have been Me
And the dust which appears out of nowhere
~ maybe part of the dust that was Me
**If you see a beautiful shooting star ~ that is Camden and I passing the puck on the big rink above!
~Remember I am just a thought away ~to guide You on your path every day!
Through the Promise of the Morning & the Voice of the Wind
~I well always have something to say!!
~ to reflect on those Wonderful Moments and warm Your Heart as You-each make Your way!
The Things that We ALL we are a part of will continue to brighten each day!
Make room for the Sound of ~ Laughter by remembering…..I AM NOT FAR AWAY!
~GOD speed Glenn- indeed You have left this town and county so much better than you found it! You have woven a part of Your
Love, Fun, Spirit, Care & Concern-into the tapestry that continues on !
* May we each be just a little more considerate of others as YOU always were!

Kathy & Family – My heart goes out to all of you at this very sad time.
So many great memories of Glenn! My very favourite was when I was Mayor of Renfrew & somehow Glenn (Arthur -Rec Arnprior) & Glen (Goslin -Rec Renfrew) as Recreation Directors- convince the selection committee that Arnprior and Renfrew could partner & co-host the ESSO Women’s National Hockey Tournament March 6 to 9-2002. * they were told : small towns don’t usually get awarded this tournament… as it is big and comes with a lot of criteria to be met! BUT …somehow they made the pitch & were awarded the privilege to co-host that prestigious tournament. Together, they created a Big team of volunteers & pulled off the Best Ever ESSO Women’s National Hockey Tournament! That came with so much awesome publicity for our two little Towns!
(just look at what that has created for our not so “Little” Towns today!)
* still today I have to wonder what they said to the selection committee to make this happen!? (not sure but perhaps it was that constant convincing smile of Archie!!)

I did get to meet him eventually and discovered his importance to and his love for our community. Glenn and I were classmates at Algonquin College and Tony played hockey with him there. They were roommates when the team played out of town. Sincere condolences to the Arthur family during this difficult time. I first had the pleasure of meeting Glenn while playing hockey for the Packers many years ago and continued the relationship for a time thereafter on a business level.
Glenn was always approachable and open to having a chat, which on the odd occasion led to a beer enjoying a laugh. He was fiercely dedicated to his work but also fiercely loyal to those he chose to do business with. If you were honest and straightforward you had an ally.
This world has lost a genuine human being.

In Memory of Glenn "Archie" Arthur: A Tribute from the McGarvey Family
With heavy hearts, we bid farewell to Glenn "Archie" Arthur. As we reflect on Glenn's life and the profound impact he had on all who knew him, we are reminded of the cherished memories we shared as part of the extended Arthur family.
Our friendship with Glenn and his beloved wife, Kathy, was forged by our son Maddox's friendship with Mason, Glenn and Kathy's grandson, which began through a chance meeting facilitated by a mutual babysitter. This serendipitous encounter not only brought our families together but also provided an opportunity for our younger son Declan and Glenn's grandson Camden to form a lifelong friendship, bound by shared interests and endless adventures. Mackenna has been equally a part of our family escapades, and since Camden's passing, she has been there in particular for Declan with open arms to include him. Glenn, you raised a great man in Shane and that in its self is a legacy to be proud of.
Glenn and Kathy's hospitality knew no bounds, as they welcomed us into their home and their hearts with open arms. Each summer, we eagerly anticipated our invitation to the annual Arnprior Hockey School, where Glenn's passion for the sport and dedication to fostering community spirit were palpable. As honorary members of the Arthur family, we were treated with warmth and kindness, sharing in the laughter, camaraderie, and unforgettable moments that made each gathering a cherished memory.
Glenn's larger-than-life personality, characterized by his infectious smile and witty sense of humour, left an enduring mark on all who knew him. Whether regaling us with tales of his adventures or imparting words of wisdom gleaned from a lifetime of experiences, Glenn had a unique ability to uplift spirits and bring joy to those around him.
As we bid farewell to Glenn, we do so with gratitude for the memories we shared and the profound impact he had on our lives. Though his physical presence may be gone, his spirit will live on in the countless lives he touched and the legacy of love and kindness he leaves behind.
Rest in peace, Glenn.

Glenn is so fondly remembered by many of us who had the pleasure of knowing him early in his career in Red Red. He was a leader, mentor, friend and had such a positive impact in the community. He seized every opportunity to engage members of the community in events and activities. The rec centre
was accessible to all. He was a wonderful
boss. His legacy continues on in the many he inspired. How lucky we are that our lives were so positively touched by Glenn. My sincerest condolences to his family.

Every once in a decade, or four, a special individual comes along and leaves an indelible mark on a town and its community. After decades of professional service and friendship, Glenn Arthur has left a legacy in Arnprior which spans generations. From KidSport Renfrew County to the Arnprior Jr. Packers, from the Seniors Active Living Centre to the Santa Claus Parade, Glenn offered a helping hand, many times in the background without recognition. My deepest condolences to the Arthur family, Glenn’s friends and the people of Arnprior for this huge loss of a dedicated community leader. Attached is a photo of Glenn handing out awards to the 2010 Arnprior Jr. Packers.

So sorry to hear of Glenn’s passing. My condolences to his family and friends ( of whom he had so many). Glenn helped me get my first “real “ job before leaving for college, where I needed a SIN #. There were no opportunities open for the day program in Almonte, but contacted Carleton Place, and I had a job. I loved working with the children. I will always be grateful to him.

Dear Kathy,Shane,Erin,Amanda and families-I am beyond saddened to hear of Glenn’s passing.Although our time in Arnprior was short it was while living there many of my fondest memories were made.Much of that was because we were fortunate enough to have Glenn,Kathy and wonderful children as neighbours. You were absolutely the best neighbours anyone could ever have.I will never forget Glenn driving my very young son Luke and I to CHEO during a raging snow storm during the middle of what was a working day for Glenn. We had to get there for Luke to have emergency surgery promptly.Glenn was so calm and compassionate during a time of great stress and worry for me.What a great caring man!I know his loss is immeasurable and is felt far and wide.He was sure one of a kind. You are all in my thoughts and prayers as you prepare to say goodbye to your beloved husband, dad and grandpa. His was a life so well lived.Although he has left this earth far too soon he leaves behind an incredible legacy.Sending love and hugs.Chris Thompson ,Brett and Luke xox

To the extended Arthur family please accept our sincere condolences during this time of sorrow. Arch will really be missed by the "Oscar Weenie Crowd and all those Die Hard Leaf Fans". Our community has certainly lost one our main "Go To" guys. I can only assume they were short a Goalie in heaven and called upon Arch to play. May he RIP

Kathy and family, so sad to hear of Glen's passing. There are many words to describe "Archie", he was a champion of youth, he was a community builder and a great promoter of the town of Arnprior. He worked tirelessly on many community boards and did more fundraising than anyone I know. As the recreation director, he faced many hurdles to get things done or fixed at the Civic Centre and would go to bat at council meeting to bring events and fixes to fruition. How he was able to make things come together on a shoe string budget at times is a true testament of his commitment to the Arnprior community as a whole. The work that Glen did behind the scenes to help youth in our town was done out of his devotion to his position and to ensure kids had as many opportunities available to help them succeed. A family man, wonderful individual, kind, humble and always approachable. Not one to say no and always eager to help. Glen will be greatly missed by all that had the pleasure to know him or work with him. Sending heartfelt condolences to all of Glen's family and friends at this very difficult time. Rest in Peace my friend.
