Obituary of Eva Maurer
It is with heavy hearts and much love that we had to say goodbye
to our beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother - Eva Maurer who peacefully passed away at Hospice Renfrew surrounded by loved ones, on Friday, February 23, 2024, at the age of 86.
She bravely fought cancer 5 years ago and unfortunately it came back in November.
The last two months have been difficult for her and the family, but we all came together to support and care for her during this battle. She was a warrior right to the end.
Eva was born on May 11, 1937, in Budapest, Hungary and immigrated by herself to Canada in her early twenties. She was determined to make a better life for herself and eventually her family. She was a force to be reckoned with. Her role as a devoted mother is lovingly emphasized, sharing qualities of unconditional love, strength, and generosity that extended beyond her immediate family to all her loved ones. She loved to cook and entertain friends and family and if she could talk to you for hours and hours, she would. Mom was the strongest woman we’ve ever met. She wasn’t afraid of anyone and would speak her mind. God love her.
Eva is survived by her son, Laszlo Pogany, daughter, Sue Webb, grandchildren: Crystal Manuel, Shaylyn Middlemiss, & Chason Thompson, & great grandchildren: Oliver Manuel, Mackenzie Thompson, and “Baby girl” Manuel. Her memory will be cherished by all who knew her.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held in Waterdown, Ontario in the next few months. Details will be communicated later.
Our family would like to extend a special thank you to the incredible staff at Hospice Renfrew who cared so much for mom during her time there this past week. Their compassion, love, support, and dedication to end of life care is truly a blessing to the patient and the family. They are “Angels” in disguise without a doubt.
Memorial donations in lieu of flowers can be made to: Hospice Renfrew in mom’s name – Eva Maurer.
"We love you and we will miss you terribly. We know you are with your family and friends in heaven and at peace and pain free. Rest in peace mom. Love you always."
