Obituary of Marg Farmer
(Retired School Teacher)
With heavy hearts yet grateful for a beautiful well lived life, the Farmer family announces that Marg passed away suddenly but very peacefully in the comfort of her own home on Thursday morning, March 21, 2024.
Margaret Helen Farmer of Arnprior was 93.
Beloved wife of the late Doug Farmer (July 25, 2002). Dearly loved and devoted mother of Caroline Farmer (Lee Mizzen), Murray Farmer, Robert Farmer (Kelly McDonald) and Ross Farmer. Cherished and loving Grandma of Kate Farmer (Braeden Broome), Natalie and Adam and Great-Grandma of Ellie. Dear sister of Grace Runions (late Jack). Predeceased by 2 brothers: David Farlinger (late Victoria) and Robert Farlinger as well as 4 sisters: Donalda Groves (late Walter), Jean Freeman (late Floyd), Mabel Russell (Don) and Gertrude Brooker (late Ted). Daughter of the late Nathan and Alta (nee MacArthur) Farlinger. Also survived by many nieces, nephews, friends and former students.
Marg was born in Martintown. She studied locally then went on to Teachers College where she made many lifelong friends who always stayed in touch. She eventually met the love of her life, Doug Farmer and together they built a home and raised their family in Arnprior while Marg taught and Doug, with his brother, Don managed the generational family business, Farmer Bros. Shoes, Arnprior. While family was always first in Marg’s life, she also enjoyed many interests and hobbies including gardening, playing Bridge, reading and World travel. Time spent with family and friends was cherished by Marg. She always remained young at heart and connected to both young and old.
She has left an indelible mark on the hearts of the many whose lives she has touched. A beautiful soul has gone to rest.
Her final care and arrangements were entrusted to the
Pilon Family Funeral Home and Chapel Ltd., 50 John Street North, Arnprior
where visitation took place on Wednesday morning, March 27th from 9:30 to 10:40 a.m.
A Service to honour and remember Marg followed in the Pilon Family Chapel at 11 o’clock.
A reception followed.
Private family interment at the Albert Street Cemetery later.
