Obituary of John "Jay" Bogar

Surrounded by the love of his family, on Friday, April 5, 2024 John, age 77, peacefully passed away while at The Grove Nursing Home.

Beloved husband of Lois (nee Humphries). Much loved and respected Dad of Heather Maxwell (Stewart), Jamie Bogar, Jennifer Corbett (Ray), Sarah Skinner (Keith) and Helen Verton (Keith). Cherished Papa of Brittany Maxwell, Hannah Johnston (Michael), Rachael Desjardins (Lucas), Grace Maxwell, Rebecca St-Amour, Jacob, Joshua and Jonathan Corbett, Mitchell Skinner, Nathanya, Christina and John Verton.

Dear brother of Joy Foley (late John) and Carol Davidson (Roger).

Predeceased by his parents, John and Ethel (nee Gabanicz) Bogar as well as his sisters, Debbie Brown (Gerald) and Laurie Bogar.

John was a hard working, sacrificing, fun loving man. He was born in Welland, Ontario on December 2, 1946. Jay and Lois married in 1969.

Jay established a career in the Pulp and Paper Industry and throughout it enjoyed many years of travelling across Canada. His career moved the family to Braeside 32 years ago where they have enjoyed watching their family grow.

Jay supported Lois through the development of the NeighbourLink Fountain and in more recent years, he was a friendly face serving customers at Stinson Fuels (P.J.’s). Jays smile, kindness and generosity will not be forgotten.

Special thanks to Dr. Boersma and Caregivers at The Grove, where he was affectionately known as “Jay Jay”.

Final arrangements were entrusted to the care of the

Pilon Family Funeral Home and Chapel Ltd., 50 John Street North, Arnprior.

A visitation for family and friends took place at the Gateway Church, 128 Mary Street, Arnprior on Thursday, April 11th from 5:30 to 7 p.m. where a Twilight Service to honour and remember Jay took place at 7 o’clock.

A time of refreshments followed.

The service was recorded and uploaded to our website later this evening for those unabale to attend.

In his memory,  a donation can be made to the Arnprior and District NeighbourLink Fountain.
