Obituary of Don McNab

On Thursday evening, May 23, 2024, Donald McAully McNab passed away peacefully at The Arnprior Villa with loved ones by his side. He was 97.

Beloved husband for over 71 years of Eleanor “Betty” Lindsay. Dearly loved and respected Dad and mentor of Lindsay (Connie), Kim (Dennis Jenkins) and Jeff (Chantal).

Predeceased by his son, Doug (Julia). Cherished and very proud Grandpa of eight grandchildren: Evans McNab (Tanya), Kathleen McNab (Jeff Jonkman), Drew McNab (Lindsay), Jacqueline McNab, Luke McNab (Natasha Fallavollita), Erika Jenkins, Katherine McNab and Anne-Marie McNab as well as five great-grandchildren: Milania, Sophia, Jack, Peyton, and Makayla. Predeceased by his parents, John and Bella McNab, sister, Isobel Munro (late Jim) and his infant brother, Harold. Survived by sisters-in-law Thelma Lindsay (late Harold) and Margaret Lindsay (late Bud), and his many nieces and nephews.

 

 

Don’s unconditional love for his wife and family defined him and there was no greater joy than the daily visits by children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Don spent his teaching career at Arnprior District High School where he provided career guidance to many students and was instrumental in pioneering the co-op program, championing the belief that there are many roads to success.

He served on various community committees, giving his time and sharing his knowledge.

Having grown up on a farm, Don continued to enjoy farming throughout his life, working the fields, making maple syrup with family and neighbours, and keeping up with the progress at family-businesses.

Don leaves a legacy of wisdom, integrity, strength, and an unconditional love for his family.

 

 

Don’s final arrangements were entrusted to the care of the

Pilon Family Funeral Home and Chapel Ltd., 50 John Street North, Arnprior.

Visitation was held on Sunday, June 2, 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm, no wake on Monday, and again on Tuesday, June 4, 9:15 am to 10:15 am.

A celebration of life was  conducted at Glad Tidings Pentecostal Church, 116 Baskin Drive, Arnprior on Tuesday, June 4, 11:00 am, followed by a reception.

Interment White Lake Cemetery.  

 

A special thank you to those who cared for Don at The Arnprior Villa, providing him with kindness, dignity, and respect.
