Obituary of Audrey Myers

SCHARFE-MYERS, Audrey Belle

(nee McLaurin)

Grateful for a life well lived and happy that the family Matriarch has found her way into her Saviour’s embrace, the family announces that Audrey passed away peacefully at Robertson House in Ottawa on Monday morning, June 10, 2024. She was 91. Beloved wife of the late Clayton Scharfe and the late Alexander Myers. Much loved and proud Mom of Steven Scharfe (Pauline), Hal Scharfe (Janet), Gina Keindel (John) and Cindy Burns (Mark). Cherished Gramma of Cody Scharfe, Kevin Scharfe (Jenni), Christal Veleke (Aaron) Matthew Scharfe, Kai Keindel (Mellisa), Megan Keindel/Arnold (Mark), Wesley Keindel, Andrew Burns (Julie), Robert Burns (Meera) and G.G. of Tyson Mousseau, Sarah Scharfe, Ashton Scharfe, Lauren Mousseau, Isaac Scharfe, Ilish Veleke, Elle Veleke, Indy Burns, Forest Burns, Tanner Arnold. Beloved foster mother to Suzanne Wilson. Will be missed by her many nieces, nephews and church family.

Audrey was predeceased by her 4 brothers: Kenneth (late Agnes), Douglas (late Peggy), John (Bernice) and Tom (late Sylvia) as well as her sister Margaret Hall (late Bill). She was the last surviving child of the late Archibald and Florence (nee Bradley) McLaurin.

Audrey had a generous heart, a beautiful gift of hospitality. She and Clayton welcomed people regularly to meals and special events such as hayrides, garden parties at their Red Door Ranch. Her love of gardening as well as their love of fun and laughter made the Ranch a popular bed & breakfast, a go to place for friends, youth, and seniors amongst others. After Clayton passed far too early, Alex brought Audrey winters in Arizona. Whether it was on the farm in Gatineau, the Red Door Ranch on the Ottawa River, one of her Arnprior homes or her trailer in Arizona, Audrey filled her homes with laughter, prayer, meals for anyone, and her amazing foot rubs. Her faith brought strength through every trial, and she supported her beloved Little Brown Church and later Glad Tidings Church family in many ways such visiting shut-ins, helping provide and serve meals, and praying faithfully alongside the women in the prayer group.

The Family is very thankful for the care and kindness shown to her at Island View and Robertson House.

Audrey’s care and arrangements were entrusted to the
