Obituary of Lois Bogar
(Founder of the Arnprior & District NeighbourLink Fountain, Arnprior)
With heavy hearts at Hospice Renfrew, following a short, difficult yet courageous struggle, Lois was called home to be with her Lord and Saviour on Sunday morning, September 8, 2024 (Grandparents Day).
She left this world while surrounded by the love of family.
Beloved wife of the late John "Jay" Allan Bogar (April 5, 2024).
Much loved and devoted mother of Heather Maxwell (Stewart), Jamie Bogar, Jennifer Corbett (Ray), Sarah Skinner (Keith) and Helen Verton (Keith). Cherished and adored by her grandchildren: Brittany Maxwell, Hannah Johnston (Michael), Rachael Desjardins (Lucas), Grace Maxwell, Rebecca St. Amour, Jacob, Joshua and Jonathan Corbett, Mitchell Skinner, Nathanya, Christina and John Verton.
Predeceased by her father Ralph Humphries (1992). Survived by her mother Hazel (nee Wood) Humphries.
Dear sister of Douglas Humphries (Kathy), Ruth Crawford, Ron Humphries (Theresa), Steven Humphries (Margaret), Stanley Humphries (Marion), Shirley Richardson (John), Mary Johnston (David),
Margaret Maxwell (David) and Peter Humphries (Lynn).
Lovingly remembered by Sara Gardinier (James), Jacob and July. Fondly remembered by her many nieces, nephews, friends and associates.
Lois married John in July of 1969 in Bothwell, Ontario. When starting their family they moved to Stoney Creek where Lois led ladies Bible studies at the Baptist Church. In 1981, they moved to L'Orignal for Jays' work.
Lois committed her life to raising her four children and worked many odd jobs as needed. Lois believed in teaching the Bible around the kitchen table.
She led countless studies and passionately ministered to women in the local church and community.
In 1991, Jays' work relocated their family to Arnprior. Lois continued her ministry always having time to listen, care, and attend to those who needed it.
At age 49 she began studying and gained her Masters degree in Theology in 2001.
She inspired many as she navigated her way through Seminary. Lois' dream to open a drop in centre to teach the Bible, basic life skills and to advocate for the needs of those in the community became a reality when she founded the NeighbourLink Fountain in Arnprior in 2002.
Her vision of many churches supporting the community together substantiated her core belief of what and how living a Christ Centered life should be. Lois' dedication to God, her family, friends and reaching out to strangers will never be forgotten. We are certain that she has gained her crown as she lived a humble life, holding others up and striving to do her best to share the Gospel everywhere she went.
Special thanks to Dr. Rivington, to the many PSW's who cared for Lois in her home and to the amazing staff and volunteers at Hospice Renfrew.
