Obituary of Garry Donoghue

With a heavy heart, Carolyn announces that Garry passed away peacefully at the Queensway-Carleton Hospital on Sunday afternoon, October 20, 2024. Garry Kenneth Donoghue of Kanata was 78 years of age. Beloved husband and best friend of Carolyn (nee Bigras) for over 36 years. Loved brother of Bob Donoghue and Patricia Donoghue. Special brother-in-law of Greg Bigras (Valerie), Kevin Bigras (Josée) and Shelley Keays (Graydon). Loved son-in-law of Margaret (nee Schubrink) Bigras and the late Ernest Bigras. Predeceased by his parents, Douglas and Josephine “Jo” (nee O’Brien) Donoghue as well as his brother-in-law, Bruce Bigras. Loved and fondly remembered by his nieces, nephews, many cousins and friends.

 

 

Garry retired from the Government after 35 years of service.  He enjoyed his many friends from school days, Algonquin College and Stats Canada. Most of all, Garry loved to travel with Carolyn to the Caribbean. Kind, gentle and soft spoken, Garry was the best husband and the best friend you could have.

 

Garry’s final arrangements have been entrusted to the care of the Pilon Family Funeral Home and Chapel Ltd., 50 John Street North, Arnprior where friends may pay their respects on Thursday evening, October 24th from 6 to 8 p.m. and again on Friday morning, October 25th from 10 to 10:45 a.m. A Service to honour and remember Garry will follow in the Pilon Family Chapel on Friday morning at 11 o’clock. Interment Malloch Road Cemetery, Arnprior. In memory, please consider a donation to the University of Ottawa Heart Institute.
