Obituary of Valerie Shanks

With great sadness, the family announces that Valerie passed away peacefully at the Renfrew Victoria Hospital on Sunday morning, November 17, 2024 following a valiant struggle with cancer; Valerie Louise Shanks of Horton Township was only 60 years of age.

Cherished and devoted Mom of Ashley Metcalfe (Brandon Chisholm).

Beloved partner of Ray Freamo.

Much loved daughter of Elma and the late John Douglas “Junior.” Shanks.

Dear sister of Douglas Shanks, Terence Shanks (Lynette) and the late Neil Shanks.

Special longtime best friend of Cheryl Baker (Glen Bowes).

Also survived by her former husband, Dave Metcalfe as well as nieces and nephews and friends.

Val’s final arrangements have been entrusted to the care of the

Pilon Family Funeral Home and Chapel Ltd., 50 John Street North, Arnprior.

Family and friends are invited to attend a service in memory of Val to be held at The Little Brown Church, 5363 River Road, Horton on Saturday morning, November 30th at 11 o’clock.

A luncheon will follow.
