Obituary of Ken Hepburn
“Grandad”
With great sadness, the family announces that Ken passed away suddenly at home on Wednesday, November 20, 2024; Kenneth James Hepburn of Arnprior was 85 years of age.
Beloved husband of the late Katherine Anne (nee Crosgrey) who passed away October 18, 2021.
Much loved and devoted Dad of Terry Miller (Jim), Tracey Climo-Raglin (Kevin) and Steven Hepburn (Shannon).
Cherished and proud Grandad of Chris Miller (Roberta), Eric Miller, Jeff Climo (Andrea), Danielle Pugh (Eric), late Russell Raglin, Emily Raglin, Natalie, Aiden, Matthew and Ryan Hepburn and Great-Grandad of Jude Climo and Reese Pugh.
Ken was the last surviving child of the late Horace and Eleanor (nee Gallagher) Hepburn.
Predeceased by his 3 brothers: John, Donald and Allan (Georgina).
Ken was born in Toronto the 4th of 4 boys. He was raised in the Toronto Willowdale area where he met the love of his life who would become his wife of 68 years, Anne.
They moved from Willowdale to Richmond Hill, then to the Alliston area finally following their 2 daughters to the Ottawa Valley where they settled in 2001 and remained for the rest of their lives.
Ken spent most of his life working as an accomplished musician. He played multiple instruments and even recorded a couple albums.
He also worked for several years as a school bus driver; a coach bus driver and eventually a Base transport driver at CFB Borden.
The last years of his working years were spent delivering flowers for his daughter Tracey at Mel’s Flowers in Arnprior.
He enjoyed dressing up in a suit every Valentine’s Day to deliver flowers to the ladies in a classy way.
His biggest love in life was his Black Lab, Bart who was still with him until his last breath.
He enjoyed nothing more than his evening dog walks with Bart at his daughters’ house.
Although Ken never had a lot of money, he always had something for anyone who needed it more than him.
If you had a sick child or you couldn’t pay your rent or were going through a really bad time and found a surprise $500 in an unsigned envelope in your mailbox, it was most likely him.
Although Ken did have some of the “irish temper” sometimes, he could be the most patient person ever.
He taught all of his kids to drive and any of them will forever hear “never back up an inch further than you have to” every time they put their vehicle in reverse.
Ken's care and arrangements have been entrusted to the Pilon Family Funeral Home.
A Celebration of his Life will be held in the Spring.
In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to the Arnprior Humane Society.
