Condolences to the Smith family. I knew Allan when I volunteered at the Arnprior Food Bank. But I first met Allan when my family rented cottage at Rhoddy’s Bay and was introduced to the annual first beach vs second beach baseball game. Gentle giant he was. RIP Allan.

Allan served as a member of the Board of Directors for the Arnprior & District Food Bank for over 10 years. He worked many years prior to that as an invaluable volunteer; working with clients, organizing Christmas programs and keeping track of names, numbers and necessary information.

My deepest sympathies to you all during this difficult time. I was saddened when I heard the news today that Allan(Bucky) had passed on the weekend. Brought back childhood memories growing up with Billy and always being welcomed into your Victoria Street home. Then in our high school days he never missed any of our football games or basketball games. Always welcoming in the summers up at Rhoddy's Bay when I would pop in back in those days. Many a good interaction with him over the years and always had time for a chat with me.

I am so sorry to hear of Allan's passing. I always felt welcome with Jean and Allan. They would both joke about me being their "other daughter" (sorry Suzie) and invited me and Sandy's friends to come visit any time. I remember Allan being so dedicated to his work at the food bank, and still taking time to get the boat ready for us to cross the river or get drinks to go watch the sun go down on the beach. I will always think of his quiet sense of humour and mischievous smile as he needled us about our shopping sprees, dating prospects or dinner plans. Rest in peace Allan, you will be dearly missed.

Uncle Al always was and will always be one of the most Legendary of Men in the most unassuming way possible. He absolutely loved his family, was a friend to all he met and would give the shirt off his own back to anyone in need. He was the quietest in the room but when he spoke, everyone listened and respected him and he always made you smile. My fondest days of summer were of the 12-15 of us cousins lined up on the beach waiting for him to take us for a water ski and he so very patiently took care of each and every single one of us ensuring we each had our turn, never complaining and ready to do it again on Sunday. He will be missed dearly but never forgotten. I can also say he was, by far my favourite Boss, too!!! To the Smith family,
I was saddened to hear this news. Though I hadn't seen "Bucky" for some time, it was always a great conversation with lots of laughs when our paths did cross. A true gentleman in every sense of the word.
I still remember having to convince him to be in photos for the newspaper when the club was donating money to the community. He wanted to help, but never wanted the spotlight.
Take comfort in knowing you have him as your guardian angel to watch over you all.
