My Letter to Marg Dear Marg... I just wanted to let you know what an honour it has been to know you and be part of your life. You have had a wonderful impact on my life In the short time I have known you. We (You and I) established an immediate bond and became instant friends when we became “roomies” in Room 139 at The Arnprior Hospital in June of this year and we actually had a lot of fun times as we navigated our way through our hospital stay. We did not go to bed early and as our two other ward mates slept, we enjoyed long conversations into the night. We shared a lot of laughs and good times. We enjoyed watching the Raptors win Canada’s first NBA Championship and cheered as The St. Louis Blues ended their 52 year drought by winning The Stanley Cup! Those were the nights! (Remember when some of the Night Nurses would come in and ask us for updates during the basketball and hockey games!) And think of the fun we had preparing for a display in the Hospital of selected pieces of your art that showcased your amazing talent. By the time our little show was over and the day was done, you had multiple requests for your artistic services! Are we surprised!! I don’t think you realized, Marg, what a positive impact you have had on those around you. Your beautiful spirit, your quiet gentle ways, your dignity, and your unquestionable loyalty and love for family and friends are just some of the qualities that made you such a stand-out human being. Add to that your delicious sense of fun and you were just about perfect! I know, Marg, that you are a star up in the Heavens right now and that you are shining down on us and encouraging us to be our “best selves” just as you did every day of your life here on earth. You are loved and already dearly missed. Your Forever Friend, Liz P. S. Dear Friend... I remember you telling me how much you appreciated being mentored by a well-known artist in the Deep River/Petawawa area when you were younger and so, to honour you and your artistic legacy, a donation for art lessons and materials will be made on your behalf to a young artist in need.
