I always enjoyed our conversations on the phone his sense of humor and kind heart. He loved to share about his grandchildren and great grandchildren... lots of good memories... His wisdom and knowledge about life and raising children was very evident... quality time, building strong relationships making them feel valued, competent and capable. My sincere condolences to all of the Swaine family. You were all a big part of my teen years and beyond. I spent a lot of years hanging out at your home(along with many others!). I learned rather quickly that Jack was the complete opposite of his wife, Doris, who was the calmest woman I ever met. Jack was what I would call a very "vocal" man, who let you know how things should be done, and should be done "his" way. But, on the other hand, he was also quite the mischievous man with his teasing, and always had the biggest smile when he knew that he got to you. He had that same big smile, and a few stories to tell me recently at his granddaughter, Briane's wedding. One story....being the gentlemen that he is, he graciously offered a woman his lap to sit on while on an elevator in his wheelchair. That's Jack for you....he will be missed and always thought of with a big smile on my face.

Brent, Wendy, Murray, David, Joanne, Terry and families, So sorry to hear of your father/grandfathers passing. I was fortunate enough to get to know your dad when I was a teenager and spent a lot of time at the homestead on Harriet Street playing music with Brent in the basement. Your father and mother put up with us and all the racket (music) we made , but were always encouraging. As time pasted and things changed, people move on, but I had the great fortune to end up working with Jack at Boeing for several years before he retired. I thoroughly enjoyed our working relationship as I got the opportunity to see the other side of your dad. He was a talented hard worker with great ideas to improve the skirt beam assembly program. Always a straight shooter, Jack was forthright and had a great sense of humor. If you were fortunate enough to get to know him, you knew how much pride he took in his work and how proud he was of his family. He left a lasting impression with me which is why I always checked with Brent at our Sunday morning hockey to see how Jack was doing. I was sadden to learn of his passing. My sincerest condolences to the entire family. Take solace is the memories you all shared with your dad as individuals and as a family. They will help you all through the days ahead when you least expect it.
