(Born in Arnprior, 1947)
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Michael Thomas Laderoute, who died peacefully on May 29, 2021 in Toronto. Michael was predeceased by his parents Lorne and Pansy, as well as his sisters Lynne Joseph and Patricia Burry, and his niece, Patricia’s daughter Frances. He is survived by his sister Bette Laderoute Sampson, nieces Ann Marie Burry, Mary Cutler, and Kimberley and Michelle Joseph, and Frances, as well Mary and Michelle's children and grandchildren.
Michael will be remembered fondly for his kindness, humour, generosity and honest friendship. He was a poet, songwriter, fisherman, and all-around good guy to hang out with. He was also a brother extraordinaire. Michael worked for 17 years in the educational department at TD Bank. Before that, he rocked a telecaster in various Ontario bands. He attended Arnprior District High School, and graduated in English Literature from the University of Toronto.
Over the last 20 years, Michael could be seen performing his own music at local clubs in Toronto. His monthly shows at the Tranzac Club were a thing of magic. He had a strong love for Mexico, and had many friends all across North America.
Family and friends would like to thank the medical teams at the Toronto Grace Health Centre and the Princess Margaret Cancer Centre.
There will be a memorial for Michael at some time in the future, when people can gather and songs can be sung. His care has been entrusted to the Pilon Family Funeral Home and Chapel Ltd, 50 John Street North, Arnprior. If you’d like to make a donation in memory of Michael, please consider the Princess Margaret Cancer Foundation.
