Obituary of Lillian Lindsay

After a long and happy life, our Mom, Lillian Jean Lindsay passed away at Bonnechere Manor on Friday, July 16, 2021 in her 93rd year. She was the beloved wife of the late Gerald (1998) and mother of Betty (Al Methot) and Jean (Robert Snell). Very proud grandmother of Marc (Ellie) and Matty (Kate) and thrilled to be the great-grandma of Jack, Ivy and Hudson. Sister of Hazel Anderson and sister-in-law of Shirley Best. Inny and Aunt Lillian to many nieces and nephews. Lillian was born in Thunder Bay Ontario to Jack Towey and Lily Burns. In 1937, her family moved back to the Towey farm in Castleford. She grew up as a farm girl, attended Arnprior High and Drummond's Business School and then married a neighbouring lad. Together they had a happy rural Valley life, active in church and community. She was always proud of her career at the Bank of Nova Scotia in Renfrew and Arnprior but also very happy to eventually be a stay-at-home Mom. She loved her flowers, cooking and baking, travelling anywhere but especially Puerto Vallarta and Bucerias, the Ottawa Senators, fashionable clothes, home decor, mani/pedi's, ironing everything, spray starch, pontoon rides, wine, and Javex. She was a Life Member of the Castleford Women's Institute and United Church Women and renowned for butterscotch pies, chocolate cake, cinnamon buns and tea biscuits by her family and friends. Volunteerism was a large part of her life and included participation and event planning for church suppers, bake and garage sales, 4 H, Renfrew Fair and Horton Community projects. We would like to thank the staff of Bonnechere Manor Pinnacle South for their excellent care and compassion and for acting as Mom's Covid family. You truly are an awesome group. A special thank you to Mom's “Manor daughter” Suzie Robertson PSW extraordinaire. Mom's care and arrangements have been entrusted to the Pilon Family Funeral Home and Chapel Ltd., 50 John Street North, Arnprior A private family graveside service will be held at Castleford Union Cemetery. For those who wish to do so, a donation to the Bonnechere Manor Auxiliary would be appreciated.
