We have many memories of Edith from the years I, Lynda, played ladies baseball with her on a Fitzroy Harbour team, to enjoying her delicious cabbage rolls which she would bring to our neighbourhood January potluck dinners. John and I and our kids learned how to cross country ski from both Heinz and Edith back in the mid eighties. She cherished her family. Always positive and offering to help, no matter what the task, Edith was a kind and generous person. We were privileged to have known her and to have had her in our lives. Renee, your Mom has left an amazing legacy for her family. I can see where you get your athletic ability and your strength, and courage. My heart is sad for you and your family to have lost your beautiful and talented Mom. I pray that the memories of the life that she gave to each of you, through her love of sports, volunteering, and love of life, will be in your hearts forever guiding you and giving you strength and courage to face each day. What a kind and gentle person Edith was. She was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother. Full of energy and fun until the last few years. Her obituary tells us so much about everything she was involved with her whole life. Such an impressive legacy of volunteerism and I can see why her wonderful daughter followed in her footsteps.
