I was also surprised at all all the people he knew including former co-workers at Ottawa Cable years ago. .You could tell he was right at home on Rhoddy's Bay that day .

Gary, Sharon and Paul with families. I had so hoped to spend some more leisurely hours with Uncle John at Rhoddy's Bay this summer, listening to his stories and sharing laughs over some of his favourite ginger cookies. I will remember his incredibly sharp wit and intellect and how he always made us feel so welcome to come on out for a swim because "there's still plenty of water out there". Uncle John will be missed by many, least of which his many nieces and nephews, for whom he was a favourite with his curious and engaging questions about how and what we were doing, always encouraging no matter how crazy our schemes and antics were and a joke or humourous story never far from his lips to make us all laugh. My condolences to John's entire family. I have one particularly fond memory of John and I paired up to compete in a fun race during Mardi Gras at Calabogie Peaks in the '70s. My sincere condolences to Gary, Sharon, Paul and family. John was one in a million and amazed everyone with his knowledge and wit. Tom and I had many happy times with him and Dorthy at the cottage and in Florida and will miss the many laughs while John relayed jokes and rhymes he remembered from his youth.
